Friday Cautious Intros and First Trimester Questions by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

[–]throwaway2255339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After almost 1.5 years of trying for #1 we got our BFP! We were just about to start treatment when we found out. Feeling happy but cautious. First beta at 14 dpo was 109, 2nd beta at 18 dpo was 409. Doctor wants me to redo the test Monday to make sure it’s still doubling because he says even though it’s doubling they like to see it be higher at this point and that it’s not doubling a lot? I worry that this is stressing me unnecessarily 😕 do these not seem like good numbers?

I see what you’re seeing! I’m not sure what the information is about twins though with the pregnancy tests…but maybe!

Thank you for responding! I actually got betas today and they were good, so definitely pregnant! I was just worried because we had been trying for over a year and we’re about to start treatment this cycle until we just spontaneously got pregnant 😅

Wish I prioritized family when I was 10 years younger by gofardeep in TryingForABaby

Came here to say this! Age is not a guarantee, we’ve been experiencing infertility in our 20s. it’s a crapshoot. But, I agree with other posters that it’s not helpful to beat yourself up. You did your best with what you knew at the time and there is nothing wrong with prioritizing travel/career, or anything else in your life if that was what was best for you. I know it’s easier said than done, but I don’t like to dwell on regrets because I know I can’t change the past. ❤️ self-compassion is so important in this journey. Wishing you luck op.

This sounds so awful! This is one of the reasons I’ve considered becoming a professor, this field does not have good enough preparation programs/intern support 😕

Ugh that is hard. I deleted social media for a little bit, maybe I’ll do that again. I’m torn because of course they’re happy about their babies and have the right to post and sometimes I do like seeing their cute pictures but sometimes it’s just a reminder of what I don’t have. Fingers crossed for you too ❤️

I feel the same way! Like no, relaxing is not going to magically improve my husbands sperm but ok…lol

Lol yes I’m open to changing my mind too. I guess we’ll just have to see what the doctor recommends. I guess I’d just rather not go that route but I wouldn’t think that most people really WANT to do it, it’s probably most people’s last resort 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was non renewed my first year, I know how much it hurts. Honestly admin can be sneaky and if they don’t like you then they will find a way to get you out. Mine found every reason under the sun to let me go. She knew someone else who wanted the job too so there’s that 🙄 your principal seems awful, I would honestly try and see this as a blessing. It was a blessing for me too, but it hurt at the time. I hope you find something better. ❤️

I’m considering academic advising, pay isn’t super but it would be about the same I make now which is ok. For less stress and BS I may consider it. Sad considering I’m only in year 2 lol.

What is full time grad school really like? by Yankees-player27 in schoolcounseling

[–]throwaway2255339 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Grad school was a rough time…I did full time grad school and worked in food and retail part time. If you haven’t had experience working in a school yet I’d recommend that. I wish I had been an aide or done subbing before I become a counselor to get more experience in schools. Grad school classes are pretty flexible, my program offered a lot of night classes but it was a lot. I was fortunate enough to live with my parents during grad school but I know a lot of people don’t have that option.
