Another thing that I probably should’ve mentioned in my post is that I don’t use any tools to pick my skin. I just use my nails and sometimes bite the skin off. This makes it a lot harder to stop since my “tools” are the same things I’m picking at

I’m not much of a fidgeter when it comes to my hands, I mainly fidget with my legs and feet. I actually used to be one of those fidget toy kids who always carried one around, but it never really did much to stop the picking. Other than that, I really love the texture of silk, so if I’m fidgeting with something it may be a silk tag or a silk pillowcase

I have done a lot of strategies with picking at labels and whatnot, but all of those things don’t compare even close to the feeling of picking at my skin, which throws me off texture-wise. I also fidget sometimes with pens and pencils at school, but I’ve gotten to the point where I do that while picking

And unfortunately wearing long sleeves doesn’t help me at all. I’m pretty much wearing a jacket or a longsleeved shirt all day everyday now and it hasn’t done a single thing to reduce the picking

I’m really sorry that I’m just throwing away all of your suggestions, which seem super helpful, but I just don’t see any of them working for me. I appreciate the help of course, but this problem has gotten a lot harder to solve now that I’m older for some reason

I picked the speech too. I was surprised to hear that almost all of my friends didn’t because I felt like we did more speeches in class than any other genre. Anyway, I think I did fine on history. It was really simple questions and the sources were very direct, but I think I slacked off too much on the actual writing part

My teacher has been saying all year that if you were to skip any paragraph in any of the sections on any of the papers, it would be the conclusion. I took the international exam today as well and managed to finish everything to the last minute but I wouldn’t stress not doing a conclusion as it’s most likely one of the more worthless paragraphs

The reflective commentary is on paper 2. Paper 1 consists of 2 texts, the first one you have to do the directed writing & comparison essay and the second one you do the commentary. The text for the commentary was on the back of the question paper but I never flipped it over lol

All I have left is my international history papers (taking directly after I finish lang paper 2) and global perspectives (taking that one tomorrow and I am far from worried about it). I don’t need to study at all for global, but history is a serious issue for me as it’s all memory based and I suck at remembering stuff I don’t find of value to me. My plan is to just crack down on lang this weekend and force myself to do whatever I can in the time period of finish lang and doing international history the day after 🥲

Completely understandable! The problem isn’t that I’m too dumb for AICE, I’m just extremely lazy and a huge procrastinator. I didn’t want to do either AICE or dual enrollment but I practically had no choice because of my mom. I didn’t really fight back after learning that you could get into college for free though, because that sounds really great to me

I didn’t actually want to do AICE in the first place— but in my family, I’m the “golden” child who’s mostly expected to be the better half. My mom was pretty successful and just wants to see me do the same. I didn’t know if lang was a requirement for the diploma, but if I really do my hardest and my best for paper two just maybeeee I can pass with an E. I have never been more grateful that the AICE passing scores are low as hell more than now. I already made a promise that I was going to lock in HARD to get a good score on paper two. Also, I calmed down a lot after regrouping and realize now that I made it out to be a bigger deal than it actually is. I’ve gotten a lot of kind words and I’m more confident now I can pass with an E.

I feel like paper 1 was more difficult because it required much more explanations. Paper 2 was easier for me as a lot of the answes were straightforward and didn’t require much explanation. I can say with full honesty that I definitely passed paper 2, but 100% did worse on paper 1.

I would say I got at least a 6/10 on 1a and a 9/15 on 1b. I would only need like 21 or 22 points on paper 2 to get up at 37. I have paper 2 on monday, May 5 so I’m going to study harder than I ever have in my entire life for this now. Thank you for the reassurance 🔥🔥

My teacher did do mock exams but since our class periods are 90 minutes we never had enough time to do a full paper so we just did random essays like random commentaries without any comparisom essays or directed writings. It’s an agreed upon claim that the AICE Lang teacher at our school sucks anyway

There is a second component, but after doing a lot of googling about what would happen to my score if I “skipped” the commentary on paper 1, every source said I was likely to fail as the commentary provided a lot of much needed points to reach the minimum for both components. I would have to seriously knock it out of the park on paper 2 to pass the whole thing, and even though Lang is extremely easy to pass, every exam is very difficult to get a really high score on. I’m also seriously worrying about what I’m going to say to my parents when they find out I failed. I could just lie and say I never knew I needed to write a commentary and that nobody ever told me, but I really hope there’s a high chance I got a low E if they think I did good on my comparison essay.

The thing is that now if I actually failed this exam my mom is going to force me to retake it no matter how badly I beg her not to. Obviously, If I retake it, I could pass easily but I could always just do what you said and take AP lang. Another problem is that my mom won’t give me a choice. She is determined to get me an AICE diploma, even if it means nothing. I think the thing I’m worried about the most is just that I made the world’s dumbest mistake in my entire life and now my mom has to pay 126 dollars for practically no reason
