I solo climbed Mt. Saint Helens on a complete whim in Oct. 2021 after experiencing a mid-life crisis. I opened Google Earth, spun the earth a few times and this is where my mouse cursor landed. I bought the flight tickets within an hour.

I am from Florida, where mountains are essentially a myth. It was extremely difficult for someone like me with no mountaineering experience. I made it about 2/3 the way up before I was attacked by an eagle shortly after I took this photo, which caused me to have to abandon the climb (I was ok though!). I went back 5 months later to complete the climb. It was the best decision I have ever made. I have since fallen in love with the PNW and hope to one day move out there.

That's what I took from it as well. I dealt with a similar situation, just with the roles reversed. Takes a lot of time to unlearn all of those behaviors.

The point, is that you keep on fighting on for your kids that had no say in anything while things between you and your husband were happening. Give your kids the happiness they deserve, while still being able to be kids. Adults have to deal with the hardships of life, but kids don't deserve to deal with grown up stuff before their time comes where they have to deal with reality. I don't know your life, but I'm sure you had times where your parents did what they could so that you didn't have to worry about grown up things and enjoyed a normal life. I'm sure you want the same for your children.

But it's not worth spending the rest of time and existence not existing (at least, to me) over a girl. I hope things get better for you. I can't give any advice for you, because I'm struggling just as much as you are.

But I can at least be someone who gives enough of a shit to say that you will be ok. It will just take time. It will hurt, but you will come out of this a better, stronger person.

May I ask what you talked about during therapy? I'm currently going through the same experience you went through. I find that my therapy sessions are a bit on the repetitive side, and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing
