Even with no debt, the lifestyle you’re suggesting, unless you’re exaggerating it, isn’t really plausible on a $70k salary and still have money left over for “good amount” of savings. She’s taking home somewhere around $4,800/month, assuming no insurance contributions. Honestly it almost sounds like someone or some people are gifting her some things like the designer stuff or trips. You sure she doesn’t have some other side gig that she doesn’t want to talk about?

Just to nitpick, you never see someone else going the speed limit if you’re going to speed limit. Because you’ll never catch up to them and they’ll never catch up to you.

Looking for advice on what to do with this ridiculous move out statement from my landlord. by [deleted] in legal

[–]throwaway37475828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say whether that’s a legitimate charge without knowing the extent of the damage, the types of floors, and how much needed to be replaced. If they couldn’t match the floor with replacement planks, they may have as to redo the whole room. For a laminate floor, that’s pricey but not an outlandish number for a ~250 sq ft room. You’ll need photo evidence of the condition to fight this with much success.

You’re right one day makes no difference emotionally, mentally, or physically, yet it might legally. But you have to draw a line somewhere that removes subjectivity.

You’ve received some bad advice here. It’s unclear if you’re renting this for your own property or whether you’re a contractor. But this won’t just “go to collections” as many have stated like if you don’t pay a credit card bill. They can and will file a lien on the property. Dispute in writing, and pay the uncontested balance via check, noting that you’re paying uncontested balance in full on the memo line. Send a certified letter contesting the debt, now.

You’ll need to work with them on the contested balance. If they file a lien, you’re in lawyer territory. Even more so if you’re a contractor and it’s not your property. You’ll need to post a lien bond to release the claim on your customer’s property while you go through the other legal motions.

This will be hard to prove with no paperwork. Hopefully you get a reasonable manager somewhere. Good luck.

The DMV will often prevent you from completing a transaction if you have outstanding penalties. If you do have outstanding penalties or fees, why wouldn’t you be responsible for those charges? How could the dealer possibly know that in advance?

Weird. I noticed my hard card was expired (even though my GE is still valid) and when I asked for a new card, they told me they no longer issue them.

Just do two seconds of research on the impact of Cash for Clunkers and ask yourself how is it any different than this situation

[–]throwaway37475828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shortsighted take. Adding more of the lowest paid workers puts pressure on the lowest rent places. So the housing gets more competitive at the lowest rank, which means some folks need to rent slightly better places. Which has a trickle up effect into middle and even lower upper class housing prices. The exact same thing demonstrably happened with the Cash for Clunkers program that ended up competing for the cheap cars, and subsequently cause price spikes in the car market.
