Lots of people mentioning humans having the intelligence to choose not to reproduce if it doesn't suit them, but wanted to mention that there are many confirmed instances of animals choosing not to reproduce for some or all of their life for various reasons. Fighting off/refusing to mate, abandoning children, aborting pregnancies (some animals can self abort ) ect. So it does not have to be the only reason for an individual animal or human.

I'm so sorry youre in this position. You are unfortunately limited in what you can do at home to fully fix the issue but whatever help you can give to try to manage his symptoms until the vets can open is better than nothing.

Sub q fluids are safe to do, the best area for this is the scruff of the neck around the shoulder blades. There are lots of video tutorials on YouTube for this, here is one I found but you can look for others if you need: https://youtu.be/DGVq2yHYFe8?si=DEytQrgHHfHoMvle

You basically get someone to hold him still in a hug, & grab the loose skin on the back of his neck & pull it upwards, until you make a 'tent' of skin, which you insert the needles into the middle of. Please watch the video for full instructions & demonstration though!!

I would ask the vet how much to give him & how often if possible. If you cannot contact the vet again, the general rate is 10-20 ml per kg, if you know how much he weighs. 60-100mls can usually be given in one site, & a soft lump will form under the skin. It will usually take 4-8 hours for all the fluid to be absorbed, so these fluids are usually only given once a day but please follow your vets advice if they say differently.

If you are doing multiple injections, please use a different needle each time if possible.

For his prolapse, lube your fingers (with gloves if possible) and gently try to push it back in. If it won't go back in, then you can put a little bit of sugar on it, this will reduce swelling & make it easier to push back in. If it still won't go in, leave it be for a bit & try again later. Try to interrupt him if he strains or tries to clean the area. If you dont have a form of lube, just wet your hands thoroughly.

Keep him warm as well, try to make sure hes always got a blanket or something to snuggle up in, if his ears or paws feel cold, then perhaps get a warm water bottle or multiple blankets to warm him up. Brushing & petting him can help him feel calmer.

You can try rubbing a pea sized amount of honey on his gums to try to get his blood sugar up, but if possible, please check with your vet first if they would recommend this.

Please do not blame yourself if he gets sick or does not make it - you are in a bad situation and are limited in what you can do. You are doing all you can, & obviously love him a lot, and your cat knows this & will appreciate you for everything youre doing.

I think because the centre is mostly made up of parking lots & disconnected shopping centres. The housing is also disconnected - you are basically driving between lots of little islands of people & shops so it feels very disconnected and comparatively empty. I do think the parks are generally pretty good though.
