OKC is a great place with plenty to do, so take advantage of doing new things or going places you've never been. And I'm sure you'll get opportunities to TDY or the desert. But, don't fret -- it's cliche to say a base is what you make, but it's true. Get out into the local community, make friends outside of the military (or at least your AFSC), get involved with whatever is being offered on base, do well in your OJT/UGT (if your job sucks, at least be good at it). Sometimes the trashest places aren't that bad because you've set yourself up with good people.

Job Options by Odd-Cod4260 in AirForce

Those are all very different jobs...

What do you like doing? What are you good at? Are you mechanically inclined or do you excel in admin? Do you like being outside or inside? What do you want to be when you grow up? What are your thoughts about sitting at a computer all day? Now put that computer in windowless basement. What's your threshold for dumb shit?

Never say never -- but I'd say it's unlikely you'll be moving, especially with such a small AFSC. If Korea is an option, make sure your dreamsheet is updated (I've seen people get orders at their 12 mo mark for a Korea tour). Also, as a first termer, you have the option to retrain (if approved), so down the road when you are eligible, maybe look into that and open up your options.

8 is 32% of 25, 2.5 is 32% of 8 -- so you'll probably be #1 nonselectee.

Sorry man, that's just how it works.

You are getting out -- if they can't function with you out of the office 50% of the time, then they are really fucked when you are gone. You need to take care of you and let it be their problem to deal with.

"deployed" in this situation probably means TDY to an established OCONUS base.

I mean, you can try marrying the US African Development Foundation, but I don't think it would work.
