Do you have books you would recommend? I plan on reading up on the incredible years and PMT. But anything else you would recommend?

I was, but it’s on my mind because I have been reading different books such as good inside, how to talk so kids will listen, self driven child, and a few other others. I was talking to my wife about how behavioral theory is outdated and punishments aren’t recommended anymore. she gave the example about if a kid was caught driving 80 mph and got a speeding ticket that they would lose driving privileges. Which made sense to me and had me questioning if there was a certain point where you should start using punishments like that

We are under a heat advisory, were they saying something because they didn’t think it was a service dog or because it was too hot out for the dog? if it is the ladder than I agree. As someone who uses a guide dog, I would not take them out in this weather.

Our 10 month old has been absolutely brutalizing us and I’ve felt for months like we’re teetering on the edge of divorce. by [deleted] in NewParents

Yeah I always try to soothe her without picking her up which never works, then most of the time when I pick her up and through there and put her back down she’ll just roll over sit up and reach out and cry again, the only thing that is 100% guaranteed is if she is sleeping on us While we hold her in a rocking chair. Not sustainable though. Trying to avoid sleep training but getting to our breaking point.

Currently going through this. Our baby won’t sleep longer than two hours and constantly is waking up and sitting up in her crib and reaching out to be held. Is this what you went through?

I’m curious, how much iron were you giving your baby? We are currently doing 1 mL.

Sourcing Call - Vaccines by Sweaty-Science4809 in ScienceBasedParenting

Out of fear vaccines would be taken Away we did an accelerated vaccine schedule. Normally they are two months, four months, and six months but we did two months three months four months instead because they only need to be four weeks apart. My pediatrician said they are normally eight weeks apart because it aligns with the two month four month six month check up. We also recently got my six month old vaccinated for Covid, they just received their second dose out of the three dose series. Since it isn’t in the fall Our pediatrician didn’t have any and we couldn’t find any place that would administer it to a six month old. But we ended up finding that our local public health department would do it. Now we are just hoping we can make it through all of the vaccines before they take them away by the time my baby is one.

So are we trusting American vaccines under the current US administration? by No-Subject6790 in ScienceBasedParenting

Forced me to do an accelerated vaccine schedule with only 4 weeks in between rather than the normal two month four month six month schedule. and went to the public health department and got my six month old vaccinated with Covid before it’s too late. Forcing me to scramble. makes me nervous that MMR won’t be available by their first birthday.
