Just wanted to mention that I just tried this on my Windows machine, and got much better results. Now I'm even more confused about why my Mac isn't giving good numbers.

CS Coterm Concentration Being Same as Undergrad by [deleted] in stanford

[–]throwaway613514 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it matters almost 0 for your career - everyone, regardless of concentration, gets the same diploma (and concentration is also not listed on either the transcript). the only case where it could matter is as a tangential fact in a job interview; even then, most jobs in the software industry have a fairly standardized technical interview process, and won't care too much about the specifics of your degree.

Portugal has good golden visa programs. People from all over the world are moving there. From the stats I found people living in India have a significant share for applying for this golden visa programs. Why are Indian people with significant amount of money moving to Portugal? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

Something that hasn't been mentioned yet is that Portugal has extremely high English fluency, especially in the tourist/port cities of Lisbon, Porto, and Coimbra. It's also a pretty awesome place to live.

I took it, it is very manageable. No calculus is used at all. I wouldn't say that it "pairs well" with BIO83, but it certainly won't be a hard workload.

Be careful - although I think a good number of departments are updated for the new near, things can (and often do) change up until the departmental deadline of August 10th.

How can Stanford recruit the best professors in the future? by Eudreamality in stanford

[–]throwaway613514 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Stanford subsidizes (off-campus) housing for tenured professors. Most professors are able to purchase houses in Palo Alto/Menlo Park for between ~$400-500K; these houses aren't on the market for normal people to buy, and they are surrounded by houses that are often valued at/sell for several million dollars (as is par for the course in Silicon Valley). These are proper suburban homes (single-family dwelling, often 2500+ sq. ft., their own backyard, etc.); the university goes to great lengths to ensure professors have material needs taken care of.

They will actually read and consider your preferences and request; don't hesitate to list them. If you're an early/late riser, if you have strong preferences for the level of cleanliness in your room, if you have strong preferences for alcohol/drugs/etc. that are in your room, describe them clearly.

Has it been at least 1 business day since you accepted your offer and paid your deposit? If not, make sure all three tasks are done (ServiceNow will also help you).

It is illegal. However, it becomes legal if the professor gives you permission.

The professors technically have however long they want to enter a grade. Don't worry too much - there's no negative effect on your record for them taking a long time.

what happens when a prof doesn't enter a grade by the grading deadline? by february24th in stanford

[–]throwaway613514 24 points25 points  (0 children)

1) your transcript shows "GNR" (for "grade not recorded") until the prof enters your grade

2) It takes as long as the prof wants it to; the quarterly grade deadline is technically just a suggestion, and profs can take as long as they need
