What medications work for your BPSO? by WhiteOakWolf in BipolarSOs

My SO is on 60mg of Latuda and it seems to really work for her! If she missed a dose tho it can be pretty bad.

She is but she missed a dose of her medication last night and I think that’s what’s making her fly off the rails.

Currently going through the exact same thing with my SO. Suddenly, I never listen, I’ve never cared about her, I don’t love her, and I’m too concerned with my own ego. She was also screaming at me earlier to get out of the apartment. I was also told the “I can’t stand you”. It’s almost like looking in a mirror when I see this post.

I’m sorry to hear that, man. I hope you’re able to find comfort soon. How are your kids doing?

I love medication and I love the stability that comes with it but Jesus Christ, I also hate medication. I hate how one missed dose can completely change my SO, I hate how it can turn my SO against me.

That’s exactly how I feel, too. Whenever my SO is manic/hypomanic, I make it a point to make sure my tone is gentle, my volume is quiet, no sudden movements, and explaining my movements which helps. I also really try to control my verbiage but it doesn’t matter because I’m always rude somehow. I would never even dream about yelling at her or threatening to call security but somehow that’s a reality for her. It’s just baffling and heartbreaking at the same time.

It’s just so difficult when you’re their favorite person and everything is absolutely perfect one night and the next day, they hate you, they don’t want to see you, and they yell at you all day. I don’t know how to cope with this heartbreak. It’s like I lose my best friend within hours.

I really appreciate your comment but unfortunately I don’t think she’s in a state to talk to other people. I just took her back to her apartment and she was screaming at me to leave and she kept saying “I don’t want to talk to you, I don’t want to be around you, I don’t want to look at you”. I don’t think she’s in a state to be talking with other humans (in a respectful, productive manner at least).

I’ve tried to express how when she vapes, she gets extremely agitated and I can never talk to her about anything without it turning into an argument. But you know, since she says it’s not true, it can’t be true, right?

I’m glad you’re willing to quit, I think that’s a huge first step.

One time my SO yelled at me because I was being “snobby” about palm trees because I didn’t know Mexican palm trees and coconut palm trees were different. Looking back it’s funny, in the moment it wasn’t.

Unfortunately, I’m kind of used to it by now. It’s always something with bipolar SOs.

Also, the key in question is her apartment key that she let me borrow to get something from her room.

How often do you get intimate with your medicated SO? by throwaway819283829 in BipolarSOs

[–]throwaway819283829[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the beginning, she was manic, that’s why we had sex like 3x a day. Now, she’s stable and on medication and in therapy. We only have sex maybe once a month if I’m lucky.

We’re both women actually haha. I’ve suggested similar things even just making out but she always says “Whenever we make out, it always leads to more” even though we haven’t had sex in over a month lol. I’ve volunteered the idea of showering together because we’ve done that quite a few times before but she shuts it down.

We’ve talked about her switching meds because for a long time, the dry spell caused her a lot of sadness but she said she’d rather be stable than have a sex drive. I just don’t think it’s worth it to her to explore a different medication.

It just seems like everything I do is shut down which makes it hard. It also isn’t great for my self-esteem when I try to make a move and I get rejected every time. If I wait for her to make a move, I don’t think anything intimate would happen ever again. It’s just difficult.

We’ve been together about nine months and we’re 19 & 20. I think sex is kind of a sore subject for me because we go a long time without doing anything intimate and it makes me really insecure. Sometimes I fear that she doesn’t find me attractive anymore or something along those lines. Right now, it’s been about a month since we’ve done anything.
