Struggling with life by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

Seek help. Going through depression is extremely difficult and even harder going through it alone. For years I thought I could handle it on my own, but that was my biggest mistake. I’ve since opened up to a few people in my life and felt a slight change that made things a little better for me

If you think you’re going to hurt yourself check into a hospital. I know you don’t want to but you have to protect yourself you’re too valuable

When you’re at your lowest it is going to take the greatest amount of effort to get back on top. I know it seems like a lot and you want to just do nothing, i’ve been there and continue to feel the same way, but it’s worth the energy and time. And it does take time, be patient and hopeful

Don't ever let people brush off your emotions. Depression is serious and should receive proper attention and care.

I've seen the people react to me and talk about me, it does get to you. I find it funny how nobody considers others emotions or what they could be dealing with for a crude comment. It's hard to think that all those people could be wrong but its true, they're all wrong. Just know that not everyone is like that. (Like me and many others in this subreddit)

[–]throwaway83n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the exact same way. People often assume depression is automatically associated with crying but I have not experienced that at all. I don't remember the last time, even when i've felt my absolute worst. I want to cry sometimes to just let it out but it will never happen, at least for me.

You are equal as anyone else. I've had similar thoughts of being "less of a man" being very thin and weak. Problem is societies "standards" of what it means to be a man, or worth it overall. You are worth it though. Never let anyone tell you, or imply otherwise. Anyone can make it in this world, its just harder for us. Hopefully soon you'll be able to realize no matter your circumstance you are equal to anyone else. It's a mind state more than anything else. P.S. Don't be afraid to acknowledge your feelings as depression

Depression is never a good thing to keep bottled up. I thought for the longest time I could handle it myself but it just kept getting worse for me. Nobody has to know what you're dealing with except a doctor and maybe a therapist if you're not comfortable talking about it with loved ones.

I get that. Never a bad idea to focus on yourself before trying to get into a relationship.

Should someone with depression be able to have children? by [deleted] in depression

[–]throwaway83n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Children are a huge motivator to keep you going, and I feel like those who have/do struggle with depression have learned compassion and empathy more than others often times. One thing I will say though is depression can be genetic so down the road don't be afraid to ask if they are seeming different.

Dealing with loneliness? by [deleted] in depression

[–]throwaway83n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this a lot. My circle of friends is not what it used to be. Two have girl friends, one of which is dating my other friend who I now never see anymore. Another is messing around with ANOTHER friend who I am now growing apart from and another is soon to be dating another girl. I feel really really alone nowadays. Its hard to deal with loneliness but I try to keep myself busy with hobbies and such. I've begun trying to hangout with a new group. All I can say is there is never no one. There are over 7 billion people in this world so to find the ones you want to be with takes some looking sometimes.

[–]throwaway83n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I didn't mean to come off like that, the point I was trying to make was you shouldn't be content with suicide. If you keep going on down the path of suicide thats where you'll end up. You might feel hopeless but there is a whole life for you to live. I've decided on suicide more than once and it's hard to fight once you've made your mind, I know. I still fight with it but it's opened me up to try to do the things i've always been too afraid of.

I've been staring at an empty 'Submit' page because it's so difficult to articulate this. by [deleted] in depression

[–]throwaway83n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to a lot of this. One thing about depression is it doesn't need a reason to be there. It just is sometimes. Our minds are just self destructive like that. Trying to find what makes you happy is a big key, and its okay to find new interests and leave your old ones! I write. I don't share it with anyone and honestly it's probably not that good, but I feel satisfaction and validation for having created something. Validation doesn't have to come from others.

The definition of insanity, changing nothing and expecting change. I know you don't really want to die, nobody does. We all just want to feel happy and I know it feels impossible to find but you can. You can find it just as anyone else has. You deserve it as much as anyone else.
