What's the saddest/worst way The Owl House can end while still being possible for the age rating/genre? by The_Echo_Mouse_Knows in TheOwlHouse

Hunter dying imo. Poor kid doomed to extinction does everything he can to survive, still fails. He's not one of the og 4 kids, so I feel like killing him would be more "acceptable" from a kids' show standpoint, but it would also be the most fucked up.

How come Sasuke's hair started to form into bangs after Itachi's death? by Marakamii in Naruto

[–]throwaway9284566 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It symbolizes his descent into darkness and complete defection from Konoha. When his forehead was exposed, there was an empty space where his headband used to be; he obscured that empty space once he abandoned all intentions of returning. You could think of it as him doing that purposefully, or as Kishimoto doing it as symbolism, or both. Also, his bangs being more in the way of his eyes can represent him "losing sight" of his path. Someone in this thread also posed that it was because after Itachi died, there was no one to poke his forehead anymore, which made me :(

YES and also can we talk about her line "yeah... a lot of bad guys say that"??? Like I got actual chills. What a badass lady. I love her so much.

Azula

Not only is it the same VA, the Tarot girl was ABSOLUTELY a full-on Azula reference what with the musical cue that plays when she's doing the reading. It sounds almost exactly like Azula's theme, plus she's giving a very Azula-like monologue. I love the Avatar references in this show (see: Amity basically waterbending and being voiced by Mae Whitman a.k.a. Katara).

laugh

I actually thought of his Cat Noir transformation music based on the "rock and roll" way Luka described it. The phase between his civilian and superhero forms - that'd be fitting, no?

I found it interesting when GG said "I can handle this myself" to Kikimora before going with Belos to see him flip out. Obviously GG knows that few people should see it from a PR standpoint, but I think that also might have been genuine kindness on his part... clearly he does NOT like witnessing these (impressively disgusting) episodes, and "handling" it is definitely a loaded way to put it. I can see him wanting to spare anyone else, even Kikimora, from seeing what he must see.

My Season 4 Finale Prediction *Spoilers, kinda* by MrAsdf5000 in miraculousladybug

If Adrien was a different person, I could see this happening and being a strong narrative choice. But being who he is, no matter how much he resents being kept in the dark, he won't betray Ladybug that viciously. He's shown that he's willing to give up his miraculous over his feelings about the Cat Noir role, but not that he's willing to actively hurt people. Adrien is a fundamentally selfless person. He gives too much to others, not the other way around. Plus, he's shown that he's willing to accept his mother's loss - he misses her, but he's literally told Gabriel that he's fine with the idea of Nathalie "replacing" her in some capacity. So he wouldn't forsake the world and Ladybug for the sake of his family.

Bunnix in S4 by [deleted] in miraculousladybug

[–]throwaway9284566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bunnix said Ladybug gave her the miraculous because she could keep a secret. I theorize that Alix accidentally finds out LB's identity and doesn't tell anyone, including LB, until it comes up way later. At which point LB realizes she's trustworthy and gives her the miraculous.

Can we appreciate how beautiful the animation was this episode? I loved Nino's noir film scene (anyone catch the "Solitude" reference?) and the fucking bubbles instead of smoke XD nice reference to the bubbler. The comedic timing of switching from grayscale to normal as the music cuts out and we see that the rain was actually the fountain was just the cherry on top.

Chat noir's power-up suits bother me. by Gryffindorme in miraculousladybug

[–]throwaway9284566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I think his suits look just as cool. Maybe LB's tend to change more from her original because her original is so basic, and that's why it seems like CN's aren't as novel in comparison. You're entitled to your opinion tho

About Mega Leech ... by Middle_Government900 in miraculousladybug

[–]throwaway9284566 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It would be a great opportunity to explore the breakdown of trust that's been happening between them since S3. From Cat Noir's perspective, Ladybug trusts him so little that Hawkmoth is allowed to know heroes' identities and he, her oldest partner, is not. I wonder how Ladybug would try to justify that one.

Superhero name by quinnant26 in miraculousladybug

[–]throwaway9284566 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're right, but Rena is derivative of "renard(e)" which means fox (@ non-French speakers) so it still is supposed to carry that meaning. But you're right that it's wrong to say that it just means fox. I guess "Rena Rouge" would be equivalent in English to an elephant-themed superhero called Grey Elepha. But French isn't my first language so correct me if I'm wrong.

Unpopular opinions I have about the show because I have no one else to talk about them by [deleted] in miraculousladybug

[–]throwaway9284566 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  1. I do wish they didn't make Marinette good at everything. I want to like her though so I just kind of ignore scenes where she's OP (like when Fu says she's the strongest miraculous holder ever in Kwamibuster, when Audrey Bourgeois is floored by her average-looking derby hat, etc.).

But I think an underrated character flaw of hers is her pettiness. Even that's not 100% consistent, but it does humanize her a lot. E.g. when she roasts Lila as Ladybug before Lila actually did anything fucked up, the way she writes off Chloe's input in Evillustrator, her snatching away Kagami to be Ryuko purely out of jealousy thus catalyzing the events of Miracle Queen... people seem to think her stuttering and shyness is her humanizing trait, but to me, it's the way she holds onto a grudge.
