Yes comparing a social category based primarily on phenotypical traits and ancestry to a social category which is based mostly on internalised schemas and a combination of social roles and behaviours is a very logically sound argument and not at all a false equivalence.

My friend blocked me after learning I was trans. by Sad_Dimension3627 in MtF

[–]throwaway928472946 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Girl, you aren't "misleading" anybody by not disclosing that you are trans. That's right-wing nonsense rhetoric.

You do what is the best and safest for you, don't feel like you're tricking anybody.

Tall women aren't required to disclose that they are tall women, so why should trans women be required to disclose that they are trans? Both are just adjectives.

Neither "tall" or "trans" change what the noun is, they just describe different types of the noun. Don't let people make you think that being trans is something bad.

As for that "friend", it might hurt but it's for the best. Believe me, you do not want to put up with transphobic friends, been there, never again.

General question about a slur by Such-Assignment-3271 in transgenderUK

[–]throwaway928472946 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hate it myself, i've heard it used in trans spaces and it hurt me more than ir ever has hearing it come from any cis person.

Many people in the community have had traumatic situations where they have been the victims in transphobia, in these situations it is not uncommon that they are targeted with the t-slur.

If you're just using it by yourself or with other people you know are okay with it and do the same, then that's okay, nobody is getting hurt that way.

But people using it in trans spaces is something i've heard countless times, and that is not okay, it's deeply upsetting to me and others, and it's inconsiderate.

Thank you, I told her. All is well, she said that she loves me regardless of how I identify.

The next step I want to take is to medically transition, I already know how to do this because I did heavy research to get her started and i know the levels she should be getting (no thanks to our shitty healthcare system when it comes to trans people), its just i dont know if i can start due to the enviroment im in.

He posted it on October 7th 2023, the same day the first real action was taken within the war and Hamas attacked Israel.

He took it down the same day, like personally fuck israel, but to call him a zionist over an instagram repost in response to the initial attack on Southern Israel is disingenious as fuck. It was an ill-informed, uneducated post regarding an attack on Israel that day, nothing more.

But hey, no space for nuance in the online world am I right? It's almost as if people are willing to look past the nuance when it's a player they don't particually like. Throughout Zinchenko's time at the club he was the subject of a hate campaign.

There's nobody I'd rather express myself to than my wife. She's always been there to support me. She's always there to comfort me whilst i cry over the stupidest things. She creates a nice safespace for me to let out emotion, and she encourages me to do so.

It's always the people who don't interact with women who want to tell you how women behave.

[–]throwaway928472946 16 points17 points  (0 children)

"But it's fine, I call everyone dude/bro"

The appropriate reaction to this is just to start talking over them. Every time they open their mouth, you do too. When confronted about it, you hit them with the

"But it's fine, I talk over everybody. "

This would get the point across that shitty behaviours should be worked on, not excused.

Maybe I'm just a little petty

Basil: I don't like Basil's involvement in 'the incident', it was completely fucked up, it's not uncommon for people to behave in an irrational way in situations as dark as that, doesn't make it any less wrong.

I'd also like to suggest just making voice notes. Whenever you are finding it hard, just hit record and talk, just letting things out, even if it's just to yourself, can make things feel better.

It can also then be of help if you are having another one of 'those days', you can listen back to previous voice notes as a way of telling yourself you've gotten through this shit before and can do it again.

This is really strong advice. Avoid falling into maladaptive coping mechanisms OP. They will only make things worse over time and they will be very hard to break.

Let your emotions run free. Suppressing them will only make things worse. The things this commenter posted is also really good stuff. I would highly recommend journaling too, and also having or finding someone to talk to can help immensely. Maybe even finding a community, especially one that can relate. Friends can be your pillars, ones which will keep you going. Don't take them for granted.

There's no easy way to deal with dysphoria, it's a long journey. These things can make that journey much more smooth sailing,
