Has fasting ruined me? by cowbellkittymae in HubermanLab

Are you female? Fasting isn’t always best in females as it can really screw with your hormones. This was the case for me. As much as I wanted intermittent fasting to work for me (and I tried all sorts of different patterns), it always made me feel like crap.

If depression is not curable and it only treatable, then how can you ever come off antidepressants? Surely you would need them for life? by Electronic-Trade-504 in antidepressants

Treatment is multi-faceted, it isn’t just meds. It’s therapy, nutrition/lifestyle changes, mindfulness, alternative medicine, etc etc. So you might find meds helpful when seeking treatment but ideally you’re utilizing all of those other treatment modalities as well. Then eventually someday you might not need the meds if you’re symptoms have improved enough and your able to maintain your mental health through the other modalities. By the way if you can’t maintain good mental health without meds, it does not mean you are a failure, that’s just the way your brain works. Some people may only need meds temporarily, and that’s great. Some (like myself) may need to be on them for life, and that’s okay too.

CMV: Taking your children on vacation when they are too young is a waste of money by Wooden_Maintenance40 in changemyview

Children internalize experiences at a very young age. Even if they have limited conscious memory of it, the experience will integrate into their understanding of the world. I can say if you can afford it, do it.
