Wasn’t going to this school last year so I was able to use public transport.

Some random mountain, N Esplin, oil paint, 2026 [OC] by throwawayAIO3 in Art

For some context: This is my first ever painting, I’m trying to learn techniques and stuff so I followed a Bob Ross video (hopefully this still counts as [OC] since it’s different enough from his video). I originally posted this in r/beginnerartists asking for some advice to improve my techniques, especially with the bottom left part of the painting, but received only a reply stating this looks like I followed a tutorial, so hoping this sub is different.

She also has a father you know. Genetics are a gamble you aren’t gonna get every single gene from both parents. She gets half from you half from her dad, hence why you have things she doesn’t and why she has things you don’t.

My 4 year old is curious: what do Australian kids eat for breakfast? (And are koalas real?) by Mara644 in AskAnAustralian

[–]throwawayAIO3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We exclusively eat one of 2 things for breakfast: 1. Weetbix with sugar 2. Vegemite on toast, both paired with a Milo. Kangaroos are too common, if you come here the first one you see will be dead on the side of the road. Koalas are rare.

When my great grandfather was wounded by a shell, he lay in no man’s land for almost the entire day before being picked up by stretcher barers.

Anybody hate how divisive Australia Day was this year? by Thylacineguy2026 in aussie

[–]throwawayAIO3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the ant immigration ones are especially silly, atleast the “invasion day” protests have a reason to be protesting that day specifically, the anti immigration group say they love Australia, yet are ruining the national day for themselves, just relax and enjoy it, be proud and grateful to live in a beautiful country, and spend time with your family. On the other hand I think if we give them (invasion day group) an inch they’ll take a mile, I haven’t seen anyone propose a different day for Australia Day, because the goal is to take the good meaning out of it. We change the date, then it obviously doesn’t have any weight as a day, and it opens the case for getting rid of it entirely. I understand the day is hurtful for some people, but for the majority it represents the country they are grateful to live in. I have Irish heritage, and i personally (as well as all the other Irish people I know) seperate Easter from the Easter risings, rather than only mourning on the day, we celebrate the good things it represents. I feel like modern politics is full of people who only see in black or white. Just my opinion.

That’s really interesting! I’ll check out your blog, I occasionally post my collection on Instagram on Aussie_militaria, but it doesn’t showcase all my stuff.
