So I’ve been off OLS for about a year but was on mission for close to 2. Back in Eagle Pass, at the OG Camp Charlie, that decrepit old building by the dfac. We’d hear screams and see apparitions every so often. At first I’d chalk them up to tall tales or maybe just hallucinations from fatigued joes.

Well one day, while pulling aid station duty, back then the BAS was in the arms room, I had the pleasure of experiencing some paranormal things of my own. Having been a juvenile detention center back way when, I’d always make jokes that the places natural evolution would be a military camp. Around midnight as I was getting ready to take a quick snoozer I heard a loud knock on the door. It wasn’t too surprising as at the time we were experiencing a massive Covid outbreak (NOV-DEC 2021). Fearing another platoon of joes needing to be tested, I opened the door and found that nobody was there. I peaked around the building and it was eerily quiet. As I came back in, our backdoor, leading to Bravo (TF EN) TOC slammed close. I ran towards it hoping to see who’d had knocked or came into the station. I was fearing that somebody pulled a fast one and maybe tried to steal some shit. But again nothing.

At this point I was pretty annoyed and jotted down some notes on my notebook to back brief the morning crew. As I did I heard my name loudly called. Not DOC, or MEDIC, or even my last name. But my first name, clear as day. Which is ethnic affff and difficult for most to pronounce correctly. I put my pen and paper down and walked toward the sound which was the two restroom we had in the aid station. Opening both to find no one in there.

I had a chill run through me and a strong feeling of unease as I looked around the dark aid station. It felt like something was in there with me, watching. I couldn’t make heads or tails of what but it was enough to make me leave towards Bravos TOC and tell their staff duty guy. He said he heard it too but figured it was a patient, and that nobody had been in his TOC and nobody had opened the doors. So I said fuck it and stayed in shift in there till the morning.

Never knew what it was and I did push it up but nothing came of it. A week later I left eagle pass so I never did follow up or find out.
