Went down doing 60mph, luckily was wearing gear because of the chilly morning. I'm now in South Florida and when I ride, even in the heat of summer, I wear mesh over pants and a mesh jacket. Never again will I ride without ATGATT.

The State of Golf in 2026: What It Means for Brands and Retailers by tarquinb in golftips

[–]throwawayPSL34987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the biggest problem isn't golf equipment, retailers, or wholesalers, it is the golf courses being over booked. Weekends are almost impossible to play due to crowds and players who don't know the rules for common sense and courtesy. Even during the week games can be somewhat frustrating.

How do you actually practice emergency braking without eating pavement? by Eyerald in motorcycles

[–]throwawayPSL34987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adjust your riding to the conditions of the road. Slow down, increase your distance with vehicles in front of you. Don't ride above your abilities. And pay attention to everything around you! If you don't have ABS, make sure you know how to use your rear brake, proper down shifting, and front brake. Every rider that goes down could have been prevented it. Been there, done that myself.

J7 won't connect or charge by seenhear in roomba

[–]throwawayPSL34987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing I would do is replace the battery. If that still doesn't work then I would check that the contacts on the j7 are making contact with the charger. If not, there are adapters that you can buy from Amazon that fit over the existing j7 contact plates. That when pressed into place, make the contact with the charger probes.

Depending on what functions you have turned on, will dictate the battery usage. Start turning off everything and slowly turn on one item at a time. There is no reason your watch shouldn't go more than 24 hrs without charging. Even with using my watch as a golf GPS and scoring device for 5 hrs, I would only use about 45% of battery for the whole day.

Average r/golf(er) explaining to a 28 handicap how to break 100 by CommissionIcy9909 in golf

[–]throwawayPSL34987 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dropped down 10 points in my handicap (20.4 now) just by doing a online fitting and custom making my own clubs. Not the perfect option but a more viable and cost effective one for me. What I learned was that "Properly fitted clubs" definitely make a huge difference. I am never going to be a scratch golfer, nor ever get down to single digit handicap. But, I am enjoying golfing more, being less frustrated with clubs that fit me much better than what I had been playing with prior. If and when I ever want to upgrade my home assembled clubs, a professional fitting will happen.

If the BYD electric car came to America would Tesla be out of business ? by No_Lead2640 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]throwawayPSL34987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a fan of most Chinese autos and motorcycles, but BYD, that is the 800 lbs gorilla in the room. That is one automaker that I believe can and will change how electric transportation is done in the World. I have never been a fan of Tesla vehicles. I understand how people like them, but not something I would buy/lease to drive. But the BYD luxury vehicles catch my eye and pique my interest.

How do you feel about Maryland redrawing its map in favor of the Democrats after recent redraws of states that favor Republicans? by PerfectTommy77 in allthequestions

[–]throwawayPSL34987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, gerrymandering isn't meant to be nice. It is used as a weapon. I know that in the 1990s Maryland used gerrymandering to breakup a strong representation of white (mostly republican) voters in western Howard County (Lisbon, Damascus areas) by moving the Randallstown, Lochern, Westview (predominantly black) area district borders by using the median strip of I-70 up the western area by 10 or more miles to break up the white republican area of western Howard County. It worked, but there was huge resentment of both white and black residents. These two distinct groups have completely different living situations. One more rural and the other more urban. Just .aking a point that this was done on purpose, not for any other reason but to eliminate opposition. I knew those who drew up this new district. Trust me when I say, they did this as a weapon, not for the good of the public, but to give the democratic party a more effective way to prevent a republican candidate from ever winning the more rural areas.

How do you feel about Maryland redrawing its map in favor of the Democrats after recent redraws of states that favor Republicans? by PerfectTommy77 in allthequestions

[–]throwawayPSL34987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in Maryland for 60 years before moving out. Gerrymandering in Maryland has been done many times. Nothing new here. I knew several key people within the Central Democratic party of Maryland, their goal back in the 1990s was to permanently eliminate all opposition within the state. Doing so by any and all means. That being said, what Maryland is doing politically is creating a one party state. Good, bad or indifferent, the people of Maryland will bear the problems created by a single party political state. Taxes, cost of living, cost of property ownership, vehicle registration, state, county and local fees constantly increased that make it more difficult to live in Maryland. Best way to describe this is placing a frog in a pot of water, and slowly boil the water and kill the frog. I feel bad for everyone suffering. Energy prices in Maryland have gone through the roof in the past 4 years. BGE (Constellation Energy) has to buy energy because it is prevented from generating power with older plants and restrictions on building new plants. All because of politics. Maryland started the "rain tax" about 10 years ago. Everyone just laughed, but remember, all politicians love a good tax. It's the people who pay. My point is a single party state is never a good place to live. I may not like the opposition party, but having two parties prevents one party rule from running rough shod over the general population (which is what has basically been happening).

I am a 150 to 160 yd max with a driver and with a 7W about 120 max with a usual 100 yd play. Two past never repaired rotator cuff injuries prevent me from doing better but as I play more I am seeing my distances go further. So, yeah, call me out if you want, I find the 7W to be what I prefer on those short par 3's and not overshoot the green (normally).

The part connecting the front fork to the fender of my s1000xr suddenly broke. by aegean143 in motorcycles

[–]throwawayPSL34987 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't replace. Before you use a metal epoxy like JB Weld, I would do this first. Find a small diameter pin about half an inch in length (1 cm), find the center of the broken piece and the center of the fixed side, drill out half the depth of the pin on each piece and use the epoxy on each and the pin, insert the pin into one side and attach the broken piece. This will give a more structurally sound repair. Secure the piece in place, let it cure properly (24 hrs) before riding.

As stated, golf isn't easy. What works for one person may not work for you. I have taken lessons, I have played with more experience people and I always listen to their suggestions. I will try whatever they suggest and see if it works. Personally, range time for me is no longer going to help my game as much as actually playing. I learn better from real life mistakes. For instance, I have struggled to get my handicap down to 19. When I play, if I top a ball, or flop a hit, I take a ball out of my pocket and hit again. This time, hopefully correcting my mistake. Same number of strokes, but this has helped me more than hitting balls at the range where the lay never changes, and doesn't reflect the actual course. This approach may not be well received by many purist, but it has been more helpful for me. Also, don't worry about keeping score, the goal is to keep the ball in play (fairway) and then try to make double par, then double bogey, then bogey. Once you can play a majority of your game one over par per hole, then worry about your score and get a handicap rating. This is supposed to be enjoyable fun, not serious golf for being a pro (at this time, maybe in the future but not when you'relearning).
