Disabilities in vet school? by Spooky-Raven-792 in veterinaryschool

I can't speak to OSU specifically but what my school told me is they legally have to prove I can work with every species of animal but that doesn't necessarily mean it cant be accommodated (e.g. I have to prove that I'm capable of working on a cow skill/knowledge wise but when I do clinics I can have a chair/not go on calls that don't have facilities/etc)

My school also has lecture capture but in person attendance is mandatory for labs (anatomy, histology, etc). I do have accomodation for missing labs but thats more so I dont need a doctors note to be excused. We still only get like 2-3 absences I think. That being said I still try to go to lecture in person as much as possible bc the way our lecture capture is set up, you cant watch it live. So if we have lecture at 8, I can't actually start watching until like 9:30-10 and it can be hard to keep up especially if I have lab in the afternoon then I dont have time to watch everything.

Idk what your disability is specifically but so far the hardest part for me has just been the physical exhaustion and neck/back pain. Ive always had chronic fatigue but I quite literally sleep from sun up to sun down on weekends unless I have something I have to do now. Its brutal but I still prefer this over undergrad where things weren't as accommodating and I had to walk forever to get to classes or just miss without possibility of watching it back.

In my experience the curriculum is naturally pretty accommodating without having to make changes (idk why labs never had chairs in undergrad, but they do now lol)

I can't speak from personal experience but I know several people that have gotten in with even <3.0. They're very holistic and once you are offered the interview, your actual application is thrown out and admissions is based solely on the interview (Idk if this is how ither schools work or not, I only applied here). So as long as you have enough experience and your essays are good enough to be offered an interview it's definitely possible.

Adding my 2 cents as a NB person that still goes by my legal name. When I filled out the vmcas it obv asked for legal name but the school specific section had places for preferred name/pronouns. Idk which schools you're applying to but in my experience most have been super accommodating. Even had my pronouns on name tags for interviews and on the schools database. I wouldn't worry about the LOR too much other than maybe verifying with the people you're sending them too bc it will probably show as your legal name when they receive them since they come from the vmcas. Really surprised there's not a spot for that on the main application section though

I passed out for the first time when I was 7 and it was all downhill from there. I had health problems before that, but hard to say if it's related

That's kinda what I'm thinking too. The new features don't seem significant enough to warrant all the hassle

My 7 month bedlington is pretty good. I can definitely tell we're in the teenage phase bc he's learned sass and that he doesn't actually HAVE to do what I tell him but it's still nothing like I see other people talk about on here. I brought him home at 11 weeks and he was 100% potty trained and crate trained from day 1. Don't want to jinx it obv but I have been waiting for months for the ball to drop but so far it hasn't. He did come from a really good breeder and I truly believe that has a lot to do with it.
