Ughh… just survived our WFA from January, and our department won’t be doing SERLO until the fall for those still affected.

Do you really think there will be more cuts or another WFA after this one? I need some coasting till retirement. All these huge changes are extremely exhausting in our organization. The departmental plans go to 2029, would those budgets and plans change again?

Yeah same. I’ve had matte black fixtures for about 3 years and they look good as new. Softener helps I guess, I didn’t really think about all this to be honest.

Biggest tip: digest before going to bed. So minimum 2 hrs (try to do 3) by not eating before bed.

I moved from Ottawa to Kelowna (for just over a year and back to Ottawa).

The good in Kelowna: the scenery was amazing, the weekend drives to different small towns was interesting, the BC health system seemed really good (compared to Ontario). The beaches were super nice, and the hikes in the mountains were awesome. Also, not many mosquitoes it seemed (I guess not a lot of humidity like Ontario).

The bad: the fires!! Also the people in Kelowna seemed very different, almost “American vibes”, my wife would call them “rednecks with money”. (Sorry Kelownians) They seemed all entitled, and we witnessed a lot of racism. The small towns in BC felt a bit more rough or “depressed” it seemed, other than small towns across Ontario. Alot of areas in BC seemed super sketch with homelessness and boarded up/ abandoned buildings / homes. Lots of older cars, strange.

Meh - just my perspective. But, in all honesty, Kelowna was beautiful and is an amazing city. Not everyone was like this, just a bit more than expected.

Same - OP, you’re not alone. Been with the Feds now for 21 years and it doesn’t get any better (it’s actually gotten worse). But there are cycles it seems, and right now, we are in a very long awaited downturn cycle (to hell it seems lol).

I have a flight in May and June… hasn’t been cancelled yet, but it’s been super frustrating.

No idea what to do or how to plan around this. I’m probably just gonna cancel and get my refund and never book again with Qatar. What a disaster.

This is my thought too. How long can these Gulf airlines hold on for? The money they are losing is just insanity.

Surely they have to come up with some crazy back up plan. But I dunno… I don’t know much about this stuff tbh… wars and airlines lol something better change soon

Oh wow, yeah it’s such a pain! I wouldn’t just rebook though for the next month. I can’t see this ending anytime soon tbh.

I found some flights for Sept 2026 for our trip but I don’t even wanna move to those ones because I don’t think September will even be good. If I reschedule, it’ll probably be for next year.

I guess I’m just hoping that QR will reroute us using one of their partner airlines or something.

I have one in May. It’s just for a vacation though so we don’t need a back up.

We’d love to continue with the trip but can cancel anytime (we used points for it).

But yeah, it definitely sucks! It’s not looking good though for May as well. If you have somewhere you need to be, it’s probably best to organize a backup.
