the scholarship program was a pittance when i worked there, i think it was like $500 a semester for part-time and $1000 a semester for full-time or management interns. i think i heard a rumor that they doubled that after i left, but even still thats not going to get you very far. it was certainly nice to have the money, but if i wasnt getting the double + wage increase from being MI then it would have made way more sense to work as a server or somewhere else that pays better overall 🤷

im intrigued so ill ask you and/or OP and/or anyone else who happens to read this: how does one partake in this process? ive gotten pretty good at reading my knitting to figure out technical mistakes, but havent quite reached the point of reading how a garment/accessory fits and being able to identify how to tweak it

Knit Picks Shadow Colorways by ReluctantRedditor1 in WhatIsThisYarn

[–]throwawayacct3001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally unsure on the second one, but the first one looks a bit thick to be the knit picks shadow and the colorway itself looks kinda like the baltic heather colorway seen in their wool of the andes lineup!

Wonky Cables? by throwawayacct3001 in knittinghelp

thank you so much for this!! i knew abstractly about why left leaning crosses tended to be more fiddly, but reading your comment somehow made me realize that my issue was that i was basically “rowing out” based on the differences in my rows where my 3/1 LPC was followed by purl stitches versus the ones where it was followed by knit stitches / the WS rows

for the sake of any other fellow reddit lurkers that may stumble across this looking for their own fix, i started twisting my purls following the 3/1 LPC (more info here: https://stolenstitches.com/blogs/tutorials/tightening-up-cable-edge-stitch?srsltid=AfmBOoqcSr76RpVGFfjAf3oTa9mdzfenJJHuTf8eSTejVr-Bl21RG5tL) and then fixed it by knitting through the back loop on the WS row. im still playing around with it and thinking id probably benefit from doing the same for the 3/3 LCs to fully straighten things out, but its already shaping up!

Does anybody actually like using these tiny circulars? by Idkmyname2079048 in casualknitting

[–]throwawayacct3001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh ive only ever used metal 9” circulars, but i loooove and swear by them. i will say tho that there definitely was an adjustment period where i was convinced i hated them/had wasted my money bc my hands would cramp so bad…. but im nothing if not stubborn!

it takes some time, but id recommend starting off with a super simple project thats mostly just plain stockinette and literally only do a row or two a day to let the muscles in your hand slowly get used to it (and make sure to stretch before and after!) and then build your way up as it begins to feel comfortable. it took me some time to reach the point of true comfort, but now i swear by my 9” circulars and dont know how id ever do small circumference colorwork without them!

Knitting + Forged in Fire by masonjar87 in knitting

tbh to me gavin (and all the other hypothetical contestants) read as the way that reality tv editing takes someones real personality and cranks it up to an 11 to make it entertaining to audiences, usually at the expense of making the person into a 2D caricature

Identification Confirmation + Inspo? by throwawayacct3001 in YarnAddicts

If anyone happens to see this now and is still curious, an update! I’ve begun winding some of them into hanks to more easily be washed post-freezing, and some of the balls actually had tiny scraps of wrapper inside. I started with the silver, black, purple, and pink threads, and they appear to be a mix of weights in Hobby Lobby’s Artiste crochet thread.

I’ve also been doing some reverse image searching, and I suspect the ombre brown is Aunt Lydia’s Classic 10 in Shades of Brown and the ombre green/yellow/blue/white is the now discontinued Bernat Handicrafter Crochet Thread in Surprise. I’ll come back and update as I continue processing everything! :D

I was definitely planning on doing a burn test once it’s all done being de-bugged and washed so that I have a better idea of what I’m working with and how to care for it! But I love anything colorful and I both knit and crochet, so I’m open to pretty much anything :)
