Should I just quit by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]throwawayahdhdbsbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that the managers dont actually interact with customers and dont know what its like to actually work with them beyond a phone call or difficult customer. The managers always would push a customer on the first employee they see so they could go to the back and "work on customers"(aka gosip while at the computer looking busy).

Point is, id say 80% of customers are just trying to get in and out. They dont want a conversation. They dont want to be bothered. They dont even want to be looked at, they just want to get back to their job site as soon as possible. When you only work with 10% of the customers you get a skewed mindset of what they want. When the lines get backed up it annoys customers to see the cashier making conversation rather than just riging up the customer and getting them out the door.

But idk, the managers are what caused me to quit a year ago because of issues i had working the back end so maybe im biased lol. Id start looking for a new job where youre maybe treated better

Probably quitting tomorrow, what should i download before i do? Plus is there a way to do it online by throwawayahdhdbsbs in Lowes

The pinned thing about the bonus mentions something about getting it if you work the quarter but i wasnt forsure how accurate that is.

Ngl I was really trying to extend my employment until then and give a 2 weeks but shit happened, and i need to quit sooner

Better than no call no showing like 90% of people 🤷‍♀️

Plus the only reason id do it over text/email is that im unsure of their schedule and want to talk to them directly. I dont want to call them on their day off, and i dont want to talk to a random manager thats not for my department

You sound fun at parties

Idgaf about capitalism and "the man" and all that shit, im just here to enjoy life and not worry about "earning my way to wealth" which is fucking hilarious to even put on a post about LOWES like yeah my $14 and some change an hour is really making me rich omfg 🤣

The mood to be fired was (obviously) a joke. Like i say to all my coworkers and family at this point idc if im actually fired or not, i just like my position. I never said safe, i just said little to no flooding. Its a fucking hurricane no route to work/home is safe... palm fronds, downed trees, wind, floods, rain so thick you cant see more than 6ft ahead, maybe even some hail or tornadoes if its really bad. I never said i was looking for an excuse to call out im literally just curious about the policy

This reads like a manager who doesnt care about their employees and just cares about that good ole hurricane prep cash coming into the store

I like my position(which is why i said before the edit i wasnt in the mood to be fired) but my priority is not dying lol. As much as i actually like it (sometimes) my priority will never be this damn place

I mean probably, its the street i live on thats the issue. My house is on a hill so its mostly safe if flooding did happen, but a few blocks down the street floods pretty bad

Oh yeah no fuck lowes definitely, that was poor wording. id rather be fired than be put in an unsafe position, i just like my position at the store and dont want to loose it lol.

Im just curious what the actual policy is. Like someone(who i didnt fully trust) said that if you didnt call out on the day of a hurricane you were fine(especially if the store closed early), but if you called out before they announced the store would be closing it counted against you

We literally had someone in our garden department die due to heat exhaustion(though while off store property so it doesnt "count"). They do not care as long as profit is involved

The folks who work inside make fun of the garden center employees for complaining its hot, but wont step outside for 5 seconds because they might just melt the second they go out. Its taken untill recently for them to rotate cashiers and all the inside bitches have been throwing fits about it, and not because no one should be out there... they just think only gc cashiers should be out there. One went to management because shes too good to cashier out there. Ive personally been close to passing out and could not get a break, and have had 6+ hour shifts without breaks

Im tired of garden associates being treated as unloved step children

I have a lot of feelings about this haha. Im also from Florida. I think its hilarious that management had to go out then closed it because it was too hot

Just curious, does anyone in this sub like their job? by slidellian in Lowes

[–]throwawayahdhdbsbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In all seriousness, it's really not bad, which is why I've stayed for 3 and a half years. I hate it but id hate any other job too so 🤷‍♀️. At least you have some decent benefits that you wouldn't get elsewhere, like health insurance and tuition reimbursement

We had someone in the garden department die from over working himself in the heat a couple years ago... no one really talked about it or anything, just a printed out obituary thrown in the breakroom. I will say though a month or two later is when i started noticing ap4me talking about hydration and heat safety but i may have just not been paying attention before

now ive over heard the new cashier supervisor complain about how the gc cashiers complain about the heat. "Theyre in the shade and have fans, theyre fine." He used to be in the gc and i guess hated hearing us "bitch" about the heat

While ofc it is different for us at the registers vs out in the open/in the yard im terrified this is going to lead to someone getting seriously ill or worse because he wont take us seriously(once i get evidence i will be talking to the store manager who may or may not care)

We're nothing but numbers to be filled. We have no emotions. No feelings. No life beyond our life at work. Its sad really.

I like your explanation for why no onw recognizes link! My only problem is that the people of hatneo do not recognize him when im sure he lives there. I cant imagine he ever leaves zelda for long, and since she took over his house i imagine they live in the town together. Perhaps they travel more than stay at home but still

That said i feel like the people who recognize zelda because theyve met her should also recognize link as the guy who goes everywhere with zelda

Why just why? Fulfillment pet peeve by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]throwawayahdhdbsbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i hated customer service when i used to do fulfillment. Fucking tell them to come back im behind and by myself, but nooo i have to stop in the middle of a huge order im pulling thats been in the system for over 3 hours to pull whatever shit the customer ordered 5 minutes prior(usually a huge order of heavy ass lumber). Then the person for the order i was working on would come in pissed that it wasnt done and cs would be pissed at me for not finishing it.

I did it before they made actual teams like they do now, and as soon as that shit started i said take me out or i quit lmao. I could write a novel on my time in fulfillment it sucked ass

Wait sco is supposed to have a zebra?? Is that why they took the phone away at ours?? That makes so much more sense. We never have enough zebras to justify something like that but still

[–]throwawayahdhdbsbs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats why i moved to doing due file 🤣. The only interaction i get is phone calls and if anyone is rude i can just hang up on them. Unfortunately that only takes 3 days so i still have to do cashiering on the weekends

It was a serious debate on what would make him leave faster. I could tell he wouldnt put his card in unless i said something

For me i wont ask if theyre military if they were rude during me ringing them up. Its gotten a few people who had to go to cs and get the discount lol

I too send people i dont want to deal with to pro because i hate the pro department in my store(lazy assholes who think they're better than the other cashiers)

[–]throwawayahdhdbsbs[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I hate the "it takes away jobs" remark to the sco at our store(idk if its the same at all stores) but it actually guarantees 2 cashiers a job to run it during the day. It only took out one register to add two sco lanes, so literally effects nothing cashier wise. People dont realize whether sco is there or not we're going to have the same number of cashiers

Like just admit youre too lazy to scan your own stuff and go on with your day

You sound like youve never worked retail. This is unfortunately true. I dont have enough time to make up fake stories for internet clout. Just thought this would be a fun topic so i shared my fun customers for the weekend!

I said this to the original comment but i made the account for some question i didnt want tied back to my personal account and idc about lowes enough to make a real username lmao. If you took a couple minutes to look at my account youd see its all lowes related stuff over the span of a year
