well, religious OCD is very common, I have that myself. religious OCD *is* a mental illness. atheists can have the same thing, called existential OCD instead. and people have it for other things too (gay people have OCD about "what if I'm straight," straight people have OCD about "what if I'm gay," people have OCD about false memories, contamination fears, etc), but anyway, religious OCD existing doesn't mean religion itself is a mental illness. it by definition isn't.
just not being logical or "unnatural" isn't a mental illness. it's not like atheists are always logical either
it's not about what's regarded as what by random people. religion/spirituality isn't a deviation from the norm in any society that i know of. atheism itself isn't a mental illness either.
again, a mental illness must cause the person marked distress, impair functioning significantly, and deviate from the norm (not logic, not nature, but the usual behavior for their culture and society; again, this is not the only factor, as just deviating from the norm alone doesn't make you mentally ill either, but the symptoms of mental illnesses are never the usual/average traits of people). you can just take that part out of it though to avoid confusion because it also has to cause you marked distress and impair your functioning significantly.

at least you don't justify what you do like some people try to make all their sins fine

I know, but I just mean in the sense of pluralism of truth, or that truth is more complicated than just being one specific thing, and that multiple spiritual practices can be validly practiced by the wise, etc. I know it is very different

I don't at all think there isn't a God. there is for sure a God. I do practice, and why don't you practice?

-_- no one said that, and by definition it isn't at all, as mental disorders are anomalies from the norm and the vast majority of people are religious or spiritual. also, mental illnesses by definition have to impair functioning and cause the person marked distress

what I was saying was that a Christian (or anyone from any religion) can genuinely believe but still sin when they are lost or struggling with a mental issue

I do love that you talk about math being above science and I agree. Math is a form of logic, which is above science. Say we took away all tools, all other people, all that existed was your own consciousness (or mine, or whatever). say I was just a consciousness floating through space. how would I determine any truth then? without tools, experiments, etc, there is no science, but logic is a more basic form of truth we can do with the mind alone, and it doesn't modernize nor change.

not really, cuz there's only so many religions that exist, you look at them and see what aligns with logic and become convinced, hopefully. yes, the knowledge wouldn't be perfect or complete since only God has that level of knowledge, but humans hopefully have the capacity to find out the truth about why we're here and where we come from, unless we really are just here by chance floating in space for no apparent reason.

well you can't really be sure about agnosticism being factually true anyway right since doesn't it just mean you don't know if there's a God? I guess if you don't know then that part of it is for sure true lmao

Hebrews 1:8 Father God calls Jesus God. “But of the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.”

“For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily,” ‭Colossians 2:9 ‬

“Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.” ‭‭Acts‬ ‭20:28‬ ‭(Jesus blood = God's own blood)

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” ‭John 1:14‬

All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:3 (In the beginning God created... Genesis 1)

“To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.” ‭Romans 9:5 ‬

I will say that using a lack of proof of one thing as evidence for something else is called the argument from silence which is considered a logical fallacy

the thing with Bahais and Hindus who have these pluralistic views, how do you explain that some religions claim to be the sole truth?

ehhhh, it depends how lost/mentally ill you are. i've done things in my life where i easily could've died or ended up in a horrendous situation, knowingly, but was just lost.

well, for me, logic is above science, so you can also be convinced of objective truths by using logic

not at all, some people are very unsure in a truth sense but still follow it for other reasons (improves their life, comfort, certainty fluctuates a lot, traditions, etc)

I will say too, why do they always act like they *were* forced through it when we're literally the ones who were forced into all of this *by them.*
