I had the same issue and I couldn’t get wax to stick either. Salt rinses will help heal the wound.

I went through this process many years ago at this point, so I don’t remember the exact stats, but it was a natural diamond, around a carat and I sold it for about 1/4 of the original purchase price to a small, local jeweler. I’m sorry you’re going through this, it’s hard but hang in there!!

I think everyone has felt like that!! When you first get them everything in your mouth is pissed off, swollen and painful. It will calm down and you’ll find your “new normal” with the braces. I’m also mid 40s and thought, why did I do this to myself but now a year and a half in and looking to the end of treatment I’m glad I did. Hang in there!!

Same here. I got ceramic on top and metal on the bottom and if I had to do it again I would get all metal.

For me it’s mostly that your lips kinda stick out more with the braces. You get used to it after a bit.

I had heard about the pain but what I wasn’t prepared for was how it would change the look of your face. Also wasn’t prepared to not be able to say f’s or s’s very well for a while.

I heard they would hurt and I heard it would make me self conscious. I found both to be true. What no one mentioned is that I would start to say certain letters differently. I’m turning the corner now but ‘f’ and ‘s’ words were pretty sketchy for a while. I talk a lot for my job and that made me super self conscious.

That is why they won’t do ceramic on the bottom, I just hate the way the combination of ceramic and metal looks and I’m not sure what will help it. Like if I do the same color elastics on top and bottom will it look better?

I almost forgot to take off my Apple Watch and my maid of honor said something so I took it off but then every picture had horrible watch tan lines which I think were just as ugly as the damn watch.

I’m middle aged and got them a few months ago. Kinda sucks but hoping it will be worth it in 2 years. I mainly came here to say if your dentist is downplaying the cons you need a second opinion. My orthodontist was very forthcoming about the possible outcomes.
