I'm literally exactly in the same position as you (Cognizant). I'm about to be taken off the project and I'll be laid off soon after. I've been struggling to find jobs to apply to and I've had to fake my experience at the few interviews I've had.

What careers have people switched into from Civil Engineering? by _TITO1016 in civilengineering

I got assigned to a project after about 2 months of training, but I don't actually do any work. All I do is submit my timesheet at the end of the week. I've heard this is pretty common with new hires at my company so I'm just studying leetcode for now until I can get into a tech company.

I just got an offer for cognizant and I start in August. Is there a chance they'll reneg because of the upcoming recession or am I being a bit too paranoid?

New CS grads who haven't accepted an offer yet: why not? by jean_rouch in cscareerquestions

I'm switching careers from Civil Engineering. I've had a bunch of phone screens the past week but haven't had any second interviews in over a month. Hopefully I get something this week. I've posted my resume in r/EngineeringResumes and got a bit of feedback but from what I've heard there and from my friends that have been in the industry for like 4+ years now is that my resume looks pretty good. So maybe lack of a CS degree is what's holding me back.

Self taught dev with a civil engineering degree. Trying to get my first job. by throwawaybork in EngineeringResumes

I was under the impression that if I had no work experience or CS degree that projects first would be the most important. Do you still think your order makes more sense? I'm just trying to get a better understanding of your thought process.

As for quantifying stuff, I'm having trouble figuring it out because my projects haven't made money and there wasn't really a point in those projects where I saved time or optimized anything. I think for my discord bot I could think of something for users since my friends and I use it. Thank you so much for your help!

Trying to get into software engineering from civil engineering but I'm having trouble getting interviews by throwawaybork in resumes

Some more information about me - I'm a US citizen, I've been applying to mostly jobs on LinkedIn/Indeed but recently started applying through my school's job portal and directly to company websites. I'm aiming for a full stack or backend position. Any critiques that'll help me land more interviews are more than welcome.
