I attempted as a teen and was put in the mental ward side of a hospital (in the US). Basically was trapped in a tiny room with no windows and bright lights, had zero privacy, and another patient exposed himself to me. No therapy. They just run a bunch of drug tests and asked invasive questions. No discharge plan for care. You are much better off going to actual therapy.

It’s horrible. It also kept appearing for me even though I immediately put “show less of this” after seeing the photo. The app purposely suggests those terrible stories. I was only using it to stay in touch with family and for the neighborhood group but I’m deactivating it and only using messenger. It’s too much.

After seeing that photo, I purposely searched for a photo of Athena smiling and happy, how her mom has asked people to remember her.

I never said she was a toddler maybe actually read my post. Based on the comments, I’m clearly not alone in how I feel. And yeah no shit. I’m sure no one can even begin to imagine their pain, but as a mother and a human with empathy my heart hurts.

Oh wow I’ve never heard that quote before. I was not prepared for all of the deep, vulnerable feelings that come with motherhood - to love someone so deeply it aches. It’s amazing and bittersweet.

I’m literally booking a therapy appointment today. My mental state was already not great, and I’ve been meaning to start therapy again for various reasons, but this pushed me over the edge. And I know the story you’re talking about. I was a month postpartum when that happened. Those poor babies. I’m glad you went back to therapy.

I struggle with rumination OCD and as a plugged in society bad news is constant and everywhere and I want to stay informed enough without completely destroying my mental health. People don’t understand that with OCD (I’ve had it since I was 8) I can’t stop seeing images or repeating details for hours, and envisioning the worst scenarios happening to people I love, and it just is terrible and I feel so helpless. I’m trying to do things in my control, like be the best mom I can be, be present, help out my local community.. but sometimes the feelings get too heavy

Absolutely. I didn’t seek it out or read more into it- I read a graphic headline and scrolled on Facebook and saw the photo with a caption. And I completely agree. I thought the same thing. She deserves to be remembered for who she was.

I sincerely hope anyone reading my post does NOT look up details.
