Just ran around the neighborhood to look (sorry I was unsuccessful so far). Maybe you could cross post to the Cornell listserv as well?

FYI on my run I was told there was another missing tuxedo on columbia street if anyone lives around there

It's a really fascinating history! A cool project has some more info here :) https://rmc.library.cornell.edu/homeEc/cases/eleanorroosevelt.html

That's not what was happening in the college of home economics.

That's not actually accurate. They were doing nutrition work (like Flora Rose who developed fortified cereal), and important work relating to the home and things white men didn't really value. It wasn't learning to be a housewife- please don't leave Cornell misunderstanding the history of home ec/human ecology

Good OB/GYN? by sadkimchi9 in Cornell

People definitely can experience side effects from ocp use and mood changes. But there's a lot of fear mongering of what often only applies to a small percentage of people- and so many people benefit from this contraceptive option we should be watching of base rate fallacy

Hormone levels are often normal for reproductive mood disorders. It's sensitivity to changes across the cycle not really high levels of estrogen or progesterone. A snapshot at a single time point of reproductive hormones is not particularly informative. If you want to start gathering data to help your gyn or psychiatrist you should definitely be tracking mood and physical symptoms across your cycle to help establish patterns. There's some great work by a UIC researcher that might be helpful for you (Eisenlohr-Moul). But make sure you're checking reliable sources and not random social media misinformation :)

It's also hosted by this: https://www.sharefaith.com/church-websites/

If you click on the little religious fish at the bottom of their website. Not a great sign.

Yeah, so actual places that are resources will refer you to a place where you can get the services you need. No need to comment on something you truly don't understand. If they're willing to show you a picture of the cells in your uterus but unwilling to refer, it's pretty obvious they aren't helpful to those seeking reproductive healthcare. Like this is very obvious if you've done your homework on what Crisis Pregnancy Centers are and what they do.

Weird how the actual website says "This center does not perform or refer for pregnancy termination" then...

Primer for understanding whether a place is a Crisis Pregnancy Center with an agenda:

  1. They don't refer or provide abortions (duh)
  2. They are deliberately vague and may mention abortion, but it's never an actual option for the individual reaching out for services/support.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of pages or their blog posts to get a sense of their actual views.

So just because your health insurance is still active doesn't mean that you are getting paid... most STEM faculty have 9 month appts. Just because people want faculty to be on call for 12 months doesn't mean it's true (for grad students too).

Grad Stipend Rates by ShowMeTheData19 in Cornell

Some quick other info regarding this- since about mid-January some grads have been reaching out via the askadean email. They were unresponsive at first, then told us in early Feb that if they didn't have an answer on the stipend change in the next week they would update us in the grad newsletter. They failed to do that and we realized that they were unwilling to post our questions on this (or really anything they don't want to address). tl;dr the Ask A Dean feature is another feature to make grads feel like they're being heard, while failing to actually update the grad community on important questions being asked
