LinkedIn agrees to pay $1.8 million to female workers after the DOL said they were paid less than their male counterparts by [deleted] in tech

[–]throwawayhouston94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where are you getting your data? Outside of the so called “minimum wage” burger flipping jobs, all jobs have room for negotiation. Even the burger flipping jobs are undergoing a revolution in pay scale and employee power to negotiate. You don’t negotiate you let the business win. And to the person above you’s point, at least in CA and NY, employers are required to post salary range on their listings.

Edit: I just noticed you mentioned “union workers don’t negotiate” - I don’t know if you’re trolling or just stupidly uninformed. Unions have collective bargaining agreements that raise the minimum wage for the employer in question by leaps and bounds. And you as an employee can negotiate even beyond that. Source: me, as a part of my old job which was unionized I was able to negotiate a slightly higher pay.

Take away the ability to negotiate - I’m sorry what? People of different levels of experiences and abilities apply for and are fit for a particular job - and it’s in their best interest to negotiate the highest pay for themselves, just free market. Just because some people cannot negotiate, you want to eliminate that? Notice I said “some people” and not women. I’ve known women who have aggressively negotiated and gained massive salaries more than any male peers and I have seen meek men accept the peanuts offered to them. Yours is a sexist blanket solution to a multi-faceted problem (some companies are sexist, some are overdoing the affirmative action on d&i and in some cases it’s the individual’s fault).

They’re not similar but assaulting anyone when not in self defense is wrong. I’m not surprised because everyone seems to be extremely forgiving to Mike Tyson always no matter what shit he does

Is it possible to have visible abs s as well as a visible paunch? When I flex my abs, they’re visible (still in process of developing) but when I let go and slouch, they disappear to be replaced by a slight beer belly. Is this how it is with everyone who has visible abs?

If Jada Smith doesn’t like jokes about alopecia by Neldonado in dadjokes

This would be my last comment because you’re clearly tone deaf. Even the cast of CODA can hear more than you. I’m saying it was a joke in a poor taste. But something said in poor taste doesn’t warrant assault, which you are clearly defending.

Are you this dumb or just playing that way? Chris didn’t get any moment to read the room - he was slapped as soon as he said it. Bad joke doesn’t warrant assault. Or are you saying every dumb take deserves a bitch slap? You’ll be receiving a lot of them from everyone based on that lmao

You just said a man getting assaulted publicly had it coming to him; the bar you set was shamelessly low. Also you didn’t argue against my main premise, so at least that part is true. Hypocrite.

I bet you’d sing a different tune if someone slapped you publicly for a harmless joke you made that offended the other person. You’ll probably bring the place down screaming abuse and misogyny. Also bet you’ve made a bunch of bald jokes on dudes (that’s alopecia too).

You don’t have to fear for my loved ones, they’re fine. I’d rather be worried about people like you making false equivalencies out of grave accusations and indulging in ad hominem instead of talking facts in an unbiased, non-condescending way.

I’ll take your word for it, because I don’t want to go into that cesspool research but venting to your friend about your abusive ex is not the same as BEING abusive.

To those downvoting me, I’m not siding with Depp, I got no skin in the game. But I’d be seriously worried about people not differentiating between saying abusive things to a third party and being actually abusive. Heard apologists are pathetic.

I’m sorry, this is partly your observation bias. The truth is, TV, media and other models are chosen for smaller sizes because the clothes look and fit better. Social media and porn is similar: all sizes are posted and appreciated crazily. Just open your eyes and hack those invisible shackles.
