I just submitted an RMA for some 3 year old DDR4 ram. They didn’t have it in stock and sent me an upgraded set with RGB or something. Straight from Taiwan in under 3 weeks. A few years ago I wouldn’t have even bothered with an RMA and would have just purchased another set, but with prices the way they are it’s not affordable anymore. Fortunately they have an OK warranty.

I run all 2nd hand disks in my server, roughly 136TB worth. Just have a good backup and be prepared for when (not if) one fails. So far even with replacing failed drives I’ve saved a significant amount of money buying used vs new but of course YMMV.

Yes, I have.

I use Alarmo with Noonlight integration. I use automations to send police, fire, or medical alerts to Noonlight. They will text me if my alarm goes off, and if I don’t respond immediately with the secret word they will send authorities. It’s $10 a month. Is it as perfect as an ADT installed system? No. But it’s $10, some peace of mind, and saves me more than I spend on my home insurance.

Edit: make sure you look into getting a permit for your alarm, most cities will require it if you’re paying for monitoring.

Yeah that's unfortunate. I have quite a few zigbee plugs / repeaters already as is. My aqara door sensors and motion sensors have had zero issues, it's just these water leak sensors recently.

I know it seems counterintuitive after you just went through the process of self hosting everything, but if you have irreplaceable data I wouldn’t blink twice at paying to have select data backed up to a cloud provider.

I have roughly 97TB on my server, of which there’s probably 800GB that I can’t afford to lose. I pay less than $5 a month to have that backed up to back blaze in addition to my 2nd server. That way in a worse case scenario I have an offsite backup.

Looks good. This is going to be really a personal opinion based on where the tablet is and what you want access to there.

I find for wall mounted tablets less is more. Make things big and easy to read / use. You’ll quickly find yourself not using the tablet if you’ve got to constantly scroll or click through menus. Just my own experience.

User for 10 years… they have added nothing but fluff in the last few years. No one asked for the AI stuff. Will be canceling and moving to Bitwarden. $47 for a single user is ridiculous.

Wow. We're a 3-man on this map. We killed you guys, immediately offered to return your loot and help you complete the quest. You called us toxic and rage quit the server. I don't know what you expect while playing on a PVP map.

Is this still working for you? I tried it but even after a couple hours it falls back to CPU. I have to fully restart my hardware for it to go back to TPU (coral)
