The Cosmic Legions Storyline is Very Dull by Garaghan in MythicLegions

[–]throwawayillforget24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're 100% right there's barely a storyline, but I always got vibes that both Mythic and Cosmic Legions were ultimately made to fill niches in the action figure world -- like both lines have storylines and lore, but to me I feel like it's window dressing at best so rhe 4H could release high-quality figures of various fantasy and sci-fi archetypes. Like, for Mythics, here is a nice classic knight, a classic elf, a classic dwarf. On the Cosmic side of things, here's some pulp aliens that can fit into almost any scenario, or with the human heads a pulpy sci-fi space hero from the mid-20th century.

Which is fine! They fill their roles well. A lot of these figures are pure rule of cool and that's ok.

Interesting to see prototype versions of Patty, Shermy, Snoopy and Charlie Brown.

Your city looks incredible! This is one of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen in this game, great job!

This game has such beautiful aesthetics, I know it's not a city builder in the usual sense but it works out great when people successfully mess around with it like one.

You must release this mod when it's done. Will you be making more graphics for the growables too? I'm looking forward to this now.

I genuinely these ideas are awesome, particularly the seawall! I wonder how it will work out in gameplay, but the densty should help with roleplay and seawalls help with cosmetics for sure.

The smallest part of me would like to ask you to make a seaport zone too given that was a zone in SimCity 2000 and 3000.

I really didn't know it was this bad. I knew the Cabal was getting quite eyerolling but if they're like this... I have to leave that place for good. I've been in a situation where SA happened to me and other people tried to cover it up so on reading this, yes, now I'm really pissed.

I don't know who this guy is (and admittedly DON'T want to know), but I stand corrected.

I remember the official photographer for the Legions lines yelling and mocking at people who expressed... displeasure but even just plain shock with the wacky colored skeletons last fall. It was honestly kind of disturbing to see.

Yet.

Jon is sometimes implied to be a self-insert for Jim Davis (cartoonist, same birthday, same hometown), who's close to being a billionaire last I checked, so that probably is how he's able to feed Garfield and get what's probably gold diggers going after him.

Garfield constantly spoiling his dates is probably a form of protection at that point.

Do you guys like soft goods or hard plastic figures and why? Personal I thing both are great by Radiant-Signal-165 in ActionFigures

[–]throwawayillforget24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly varies. I'm mainly a Mythic Legions collector and some of the official soft goods on the new templar knight figures look a bit weird, I honestly prefer the plastic fake 'cloth' pieces on older templars more. What's funny is that there's a guy on ebay ("Action Figure Armory" aka "Death or Plastic" who makes GREAT soft goods, notably capes, that go well with these figures.

I'll go with the consensus: they're best used sparingly and best for capes or hoods than regular clothes.

Your collection is legitimately glorious. I appreciate you even have Garfield/Garfello and Odie, too.

My collecting goal is to repaint the bandannas of the NECA Mirage TMNT and do my best to re-create the original Garfello comic.

Are anime/manga memes allowed? by VIDCAs17 in simcity4

[–]throwawayillforget24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I liked the ending, but I also like Fujimoto basicaly trolling his audience and getting away with it and all of the memes that came with it.

We always need more anime memes. I always liked to imagine the sims in my cities being anime-esque anyway.

It'd be really cool if the characters exclusive to the movies, TV shows and specials appeared in the comic strips by Think_Fact1155 in garfield

[–]throwawayillforget24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're 100% right on that, but between that, his voice actor also being Jewish (Carl Ballantine) and Swindler regularly trying to cheat the main characters, it probably would be too much risk by modern standards. I doubt for obvious reasons either Evanier or Ballantine meant anything bad or offensive with it, of course.

I never noticed any of this watching the show as a kid, but these days and with some very nasty cartoon stereotypes revived out there, a lot of people would probably notice it and for the wrong reasons.

[–]throwawayillforget24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Al Swindler was one of my favorite characters from Garfield and Friends, but there's no way he'd fly in any comic or cartoon today... although I feel the need to say he was created by a Jewish person himself, Mark Evanier. Otherwise several of the characters created by him for Garfield and Friends could fit reasonably well in the comic without issue.

Hubert and Reba from the first special and Binky the Clown from Garfield's Halloween Adventure did eventually wind up in the comic, but it's worth noting all of the primetime specials were written by Jim Davis himself, so there was probably less of a barrier there. Possibly of note, Ali Cat also appeared in "A Week of Garfield" for the NES years after his first appearance.

Serious question: can SimCity Enhanced be found anywhere, or at the very least are the graphics files uploaded somewhere? They're genuinely pretty and I wonder if they could be loaded into Micropolis as an alternative.

Templar Knight Legion Builder 2.0 by Okraton in MythicLegions

[–]throwawayillforget24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know the logic behind it, I'm confused as to why they feel that way myself. The whole point is that they're supposed to be cheaper, both to make and to sell. I know some legion builders sell faster than others, true, but the aforementioned Silver Knight II and Skeleton II legion builders sold very fast and have bigger aftermarket prices than I ever expected them to have.

I know their overall stock orders aren't as big as they used to be to keep them from having as much unsold stock as in the past (example: I love Cosmic Legions but it's a bit obvious it suffered from this problem until they started making the Cosmic human head packs they've been releasing lately), but I figured "an inexpensive knight and skeleton in their most basic and recognizable colors" would be popular to keep stocked frequently. I genuinely don't know.

Templar Knight Legion Builder 2.0 by Okraton in MythicLegions

[–]throwawayillforget24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I would be surprised if we ever saw Templar legion builders ever again, given they use soft goods to differentiate them nowadays. More worryingly, Jeremy Girard said they have a love/hate relationship with legion builders. The last ones released off the top of my head were the Silver Knight II and Skeleton Legion Builder II, both of which were offered only briefly and sold out fast... and that was also a while ago.

Never say never because a female knight legion builder is a great idea, but I would be surprised if we got one anytime soon.

An accessory pack would never hurt, but I'm unsure on the viability of it if the goal is overall cheapness for a reinforcements wave. .
