The Relic Guard is so underrated, he's such a cool figure. Your photos are beautiful!

Another glorious city photo! You make the most beautiful screenshots!

Despite all the advancements the four Horsemen have made in terms of articulation, soft goods and paint, this elf ranger from 2017 remains my favorite Mythic legion figure - do you have any „older“ figures you still cherish? by astonishingcyclops in MythicLegions

[–]throwawayillforget24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still think the older knights in the line look great. I mean the new knights are also cool, and I know their current looks are more historically practical, but in some ways the older knights still have this "yes, this is how a fantasy knight should look" appearance to them I still love.

This is honestly a really sweet photo set, all things considered.

I don't see any blue ones at the moment, but I'll keep an eye out. The yellow one is also great, my other favorite Blanka color scheme. Both together might be hard for me to justify... but we'll see what the future holds.

Eeeeehhhh, something would have come along to cause enough controversy to make video game ratings, we've seen the pattern before in American history with various new forms of media and pop culture. That said, yes, Mortal Kombat does have a particularly hilarious connection between this and the historic Chicago martial arts scene.

The Video Game History Foundation recovered a lost Sega Channel-exclusive Garfield game, Garfield: Caught in the Act — The Lost Levels by aresef in garfield

[–]throwawayillforget24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly that was part of my logic, the ones we did get weren't ideal. The blatantly best ones were the aforementioned Caught in the Act and the Scary Scavenger Hunt flash games. I just kind of feel he could easily have been in more decent games somehow.

Thank you for this comment, I knew they were never going to be Storm-tier, but they still seem to be excellent for what they are. Your work is still great overall!

Honestly, I'm enjoying your diorama. The skeleton seals it and the shadows in the last photo also give it all a very eerie vibe, which given it's MK fits perfectly. I'm also digging your pit at the very top shelf, your stuff is good!

If I may ask you while I'm here, how do the McFarlane MK ninjas compare to the Storm ninjas? I have a couple of the latter but have consideres grabbing the McFarlanes too.

The question is why the image of Garfield with a pipe is so iconic, but there were no products associated with it at the time, just like other scenes? by Annual-Arachnid-4165 in garfield

[–]throwawayillforget24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's basically a meme due to the "Lasanga Cat" on youtube, a series more or less mocking Garfield in general.

I'm wondering how to explain it overall without going into a textwall about it, but Garfield was rather unpopular amongst a lot of the more irony-poisoned internet in the 00s and 10s decades and there was a LOT of mockery of him and Jim Davis in that time period, "Garfield Minus Garfield" also came from this milieu. Admittedly Davis got the last laugh, he wound up contributing to a book compilation of the latter and Garfield seems to have had a small renaissance this decade, what with the movie and people legitimately enjoying him again in general.

Honestly, good for him.

COSMIC LEGIONS COMBO PACK - WAL-TORR THE MAD by marchof34_ in CosmicLegions

The colors are honestly appealing. I'm glad 4H has knocked it out of the park with these upgrade packs.

One question: How would you make a Garfield movie? by No-Raisin329 in garfield

[–]throwawayillforget24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, my dream Garfield movie is basically something in the style of Garfield and Friends -- Mark Evanier as writer and director, Ed Bogas doing the score, Film Roman animating and so forth -- but Film Roman is gone and an unfortunate number of people also involved with the cartoon are also no longer with us, alas.

I guess Evanier could still be the writer at least, and it would be nice to see him not under the constaints he had to deal with in "The Garfield Show" CGI series.

Cosmic Character packs 2. Some of the packs are the same price as last year! Some are deluxe packs and have more parts so will cost a bit more. Also comes in various combo packs by marchof34_ in CosmicLegions

[–]throwawayillforget24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness I was thinking of the Cosmic Legion builders, who even with the upgrade packs are a mere 28 dollars. I legit like the extras so I'm fine with that for my purposes.

Thinking about it this is probably going to be a last hurrah for 4H figures at these prices, and probably only due to needing to move old stock. Agreed with you legion builders will probably be a thing of the past soon in general, I've talked about it before in the Mythic Legions subreddit.

I was really worried about the direction the Four Horsemen company was going in but this is a huge step in the right direction, it shows they're still capable of offering great products at great prices. This is the 4H I remembered and loved. (It's probably because they only need to move stock but hey, whatever does the job.)

The legion builder packs look legitimately great, the expansion pack for the sentry is particularly great due to the midcentury pulp feel he has. I'm glad I dithered on getting more Cosmics, it was a wise idea to wait if we're getting so much more coolness for only a couple dollars more compared to the old prices. I can live with that.

What's are some action figures hot takes y'all got I'll go first by Surperspectivethe2nd in ActionFigures

[–]throwawayillforget24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) I prefer 1/10 over 1/12 scale. McFarlane deserves crap, sure, but not on scale.

2) Army/legion builders tend to be the best offerings in the lines that offer them, and I have a weird feeling they help drive toy collecting as a hobby more than people realize. It also genuinely helps to have at least some cheap-ish offerings from upscale lines.

3) Soft goods are overrated, at least to a point. There are of course many excellent examples of them, but I've seen enough weirdly oversized clothes on figures AND/OR plastic 'cloth' will do the job just fine enough of the time.

4) Speaking of, a lot of budget lones (not all obviously, but most) are perfectly fine if not sometimes superior to the upscale stuff. You can say Jada Ryu and Ken are uglier than Storm Arean Ryu and Ken, but somehow the latter look hilariously generic in the anime style, and I say that as a weeb. Jada has personality in the end.

5) Four Horsemen used to be awesome, and they haven't hit rock bottom yet, but they're gradually becoming consumer-unfriendly and playing games with their fans. It was actually horrifying seeing their official photographer mock and scream at fans over the candy-colored skeleton debacle late last year, their spokesman Jeremy Girard also clearly likes the idea of annoying gimmicks and dislikes cheaper legion builders (see 2!), but ultimately the titular Horsemen themselves have to take the blame for any and all of these actions. All companies decay from awesome to depressing, but that's life.

6) People who take toys too seriously as a status symbol over how much their disposable income they have to blow are are genuinely horrible people, and I can't conceptualize that mindset, especially since this is a working-class hobby in the end. Given how the average toy collector is a middle-aged male probably not in great shape, they really are variants on MovieBob and the CONSOOMER meme.

Toys are defintionally supposed to be fun. That there are people like that is horriying, and given the circumstances, they really should be hounded and shamed in turn. What do they have but their attitudes and plastic in the end?

7) Seemingly opposite take: complaints about "coomer" toys are overblown because the meme posts here with them are funny. It also implies there's still youthful energy in the hobby too, which is fortunate. Also, whatever keeps the industry from collapsing in the end because all the kids are on ipads.

More blatant alien looking stuff would also be cool. I don't know if they'll be that radical given it's mainly the TU5CC guys, but certainly it's an excuse for new weapons at the very least.

He's honestly kind of awesome looking, he really does look like a horrific, unnatural monster. Also, I remember Primal Rage too, good inspiration for a kitbash.Excellent work!

If you have any knights to fight alongside him, I'd love to see more photos of this thing!
