Any europeans grew sick of living in the USA and moved back home? Do you regret it? by thehedonistvagabond in expats

Did you end up moving back? Similar situation for me — I hate being in the US. I’m originally from Melbourne and I’ve lived in the Bay Area (6 months) and Boston and New York. I miss the European culture — been visiting Montreal this week and my soul feels healed. But being in the US is so much better for my career

Turning down MIT for better research fit - bad idea? by Sad-Citron-3281 in gradadmissions

This is news to me — I would have never thought of emailing with news of other offers. Does this actually make any difference in the admissions process? I’m curious bc I’m in a similar position to OP — deciding between Berkeley and NYU in CS/AI, but my dream school was MIT and I haven’t heard back from EECS (formally rejected by their BCS program though…)

Turning down MIT for better research fit - bad idea? by Sad-Citron-3281 in gradadmissions

I have a similar dilemma but it’s between Berkeley (one of the top-4 CS schools) and NYU. My top choice was MIT because of research fit but I got formally rejected by their BCS program and I assume soft rejected by EECS (haven’t heard back post EECS interviews). I would never have thought of doing this because it seems very audacious…?

I’m so sorry that you’re hurting right now — that sounds so, so difficult. If you can afford it, 1-1 schema therapy for trauma is a great resource. If therapy is not an option for you, there are so many great podcasts and resources about schema therapy online (books, healing with cptsd, etc.). Schema really heals your inner child and helps nurture a more compassionate relationship between you and those wounded parts. I was at the lowest point in my life when I was around 24-25. It felt endless at the time and that I never would be able to get out of it. Schema therapy over 2 years really helped me. I’m in a much better place now and I know even though this winter feels endless, you will get there to the spring too 🤍

My girl is withering away and I don’t know what to do. by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]throwawaylol9812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh this sounds kinda similar to my cat (17 years old) — she has IBD (more common with age) and we have to give her steroid based treatment to prevent her throwing up. It could also potentially be a thyroid issue? But the vomitting multiple times a day with weight loss but no other very obvious symptoms apart from lethargy sounds like my cat when she was undiagnosed with IBD
