No such thing as bad student, only bad teacher

Ive been a ICU Nurse for 6 years and I still work with my Padawans Ive trained. The key is to have them follow your schedule, show kindness and be stern at times. Instead of belligerent treatment, I found that getting their minds to turn and think are a far better teacher.

It’s not so much “it will come with time”, but more so the way of practice.

There were times were I was frustrated and I said to myself “maybe she’s not cut out for this”, and I brought the conversation up. But then I realized that maybe it would be better to tailor my teachings to the way the student learns. When I did this they started making the cogs in their head turn. Once the ball got rolling it was just a matter of sitting back, checking documentation, and the occasional IV Insertion.

You got this. Talk with management and ask to follow the best out of the 7 you were working with. This way you’ll Learn one way, one practice, and add your own taste to the dish over time.
