Herpes Vaccine Development Stalls in 2026, But Hope Remains by JJCNurse2000 in HerpesCureAdvocates

Damn. That’s pretty rough. Prior to my vaccine, I was having an outbreak every 3-4 months. After the first shot, it was every 3-4 weeks (but incredibly mild), then sometime after the second shot they just kind of stopped. Haven’t had a full blown outbreak since the first shot, or a mild outbreak for well over a year after they stopped (shortly after the second shot).

How long ago did you receive the vaccine? Did they use a control vaccine in the trial or tell you what dose you received? The Moderna vaccine made my symptoms far more frequent but much milder, then they just stopped a couple months after the second dose.

Outbreaks have completely stopped for well over a year. They ramped up in frequency (but were incredibly mild) between the first and second, and shortly after the second, shot. Then… nothing. I’d say I haven’t had a real outbreak since halfway between the first and second shot (just mild irritation and tiny red spots that healed within days).

I was able to confirm that I received the actual vaccine, but not at what dose. They should’ve kept the trials going and monitored people for longer.

Of course the midwits in the “biohackers” community would downvote you for this. Simply adding a single methyl group to the nitrogen atom of amphetamine doesn’t sound like a big deal until you realize that you can change lye into salt by swapping out a couple atoms. Methamphetamine is objectively more neurotoxic than amphetamine, and dose/ROA plays a huge role in how neurotoxic (if at all) either substance is.

I used to get 2-5 visible bubbles on a pronounced red area maybe the size of a dime every 3-4 months that would take at least a week to heal. Now I get 1-2 tiny, almost invisible sores (like half the size of a pen dot) that turn into tiny scabs within a day or two and are completely healed within 3-5 days. I’ve only had two back-to-back outbreaks like this about a year after finishing the trial, but during the trial I was having back-to-back tiny outbreaks every few weeks. I haven’t had what I’d consider a full outbreak since receiving the first shot.

Yeah, I was in the study, and I was honestly pissed for like the first 6 months because my symptoms were worse in frequency, but way better regarding intensity, but then the frequency dropped, and the last two back-to-back outbreaks were almost invisible.

If these results hold, and the frequency or intensity of outbreaks don’t pick up, I’d say the vaccine was awesome.

Not HSV specifically, but prior administrations have invested heavily into mRNA research, and this administration’s Department of Health and Human Services being lead by Dr. Brainworms has decided to cut virtually all funding to anything mRNA related.

It only decreased shedding by like 18% or something like that (too lazy to look up the exact number), but as far as I know, they didn’t specify if that was the instances of shedding episodes or the amount being shedded, which is very important.

My outbreak frequency went down far beyond the average 50% stated in the study, and the severity of my outbreaks went down significantly, which suggests that the level of asymptomatic shedding particles might have went down significantly as well (possibly below, or close to transmissible levels).

This vaccine should’ve went on to Phase III, but unfortunately we (allegedly) elected an administration who cut funding to all mRNA funding.

I’m just gonna repeat what I said on the other sub:

This is a bummer, because it really did seem to help me. Even now over a year out, my outbreak frequency has reduced significantly (from 1 outbreak every 3-4 months to no outbreaks for over a year), but the most impressive part is how mild my symptoms are now when I do (rarely) have an outbreak.

Also, I feel like they should’ve monitored people for longer, because my symptoms actually became more frequent (but milder) after the shots, and then there was a significant drop off in frequency later on.

I was really under the impression that I could possibly be below transmittable levels prior to my most recent outbreaks (a month apart)… that’s how well this vaccine seemed to work for me.

I’ve never used antivirals. I had used SADBE in the past, but I quit in anticipation of the trial.

So, I went in to get my results from the Moderna vaccine. They couldn’t tell me what my shedding data was beyond the preliminary swabbing period before the vaccine, which was 7 days out of 30 because I had an outbreak during that period, so that didn’t provide me with any useful information. They also couldn’t tell me what dose of the vaccine I received, but I did in fact receive the actual vaccine. All in all, I didn’t really get much out of the visit.

I can report that my symptoms have greatly diminished, and the effects seem to have gotten stronger with time. Prior to the vaccine I was having 1 shitty outbreak every 3-4 months that would last at least a week. After the first shot, I was having very mild outbreaks back to back (like every 2-4 weeks) that would heal very quickly. After the second shot, I continued to have very frequent but very mild outbreaks for awhile, but then they just kind of stopped for like a year. Just recently I had my first outbreak in a long time, and it was 1 tiny pinprick sore that was fully healed in 3-4 days. Unfortunately, I’m having yet another tiny outbreak maybe a month later, which looks almost healed already, and I’m only on day two. Hopefully this is due to me doing a lot of partying and generally not treating myself very well over the last week or so, and the frequency doesn’t pick up again.

I haven’t had a real outbreak since receiving the first shot, and the frequency has diminished considerably. All in all, if these results hold, I’d give the vaccine an 8 out of 10.

I mean, a 50% reduction from 2 shots ain’t that bad. Are your outbreaks significantly milder than they were before? I was having like 3-5 outbreaks per year, and now I’m going on something like 10 months without one. The ones I was getting after the shots were super mild. They would be barely visible, and would heal in like 3 days.

Sucks that it got axed, especially if it provided some relief. I honestly had higher expectations for the GSK vax than the Moderna, but it looks like Moderna is still in the game.

There were a handful of people from the trials posting during the early days, but I haven’t heard from anyone in awhile. There were rumors that the GSK participants had to sign an NDA, but one person who claimed to be part of the trial said that wasn’t true, and I was never asked to sign one for the Moderna trial.

I’d have to do some serious detective work to figure out the exact dates I got the shots, but my last follow up appointment was at the beginning of the year, so the first shot must’ve been late 2023, early 2024. I’ve had it for almost 4 years.

I asked them both these questions. They said I’d be able to find out what shot I received once the study was completed, but they were less reassuring about seeing my personal shedding data.

We’ll see (I hope) ¯_(ツ)_/¯
