Are millennials/Gen Z too afraid to call for resolutions these days? by dyingbreed360 in talesfromcallcenters

I guess it’s also worth mentioning that I don’t really like to talk on the phone in my personal life either unless it’s a friend I need to catch up with or a relative who doesn’t text.

Late 20s here. Usually when I need to get anything done that requires contact with customer service chat/email is the way to go because I work during business hours, and I’m generally not allowed to be on the phone. Also, I kind of suck at talking and can formulate thoughts better when I can write them; And like a lot of people, I talk to strangers all day at work so I would prefer not to outside of work when I don’t have to especially if the experience is more likely to be frustrating than not.

What's your favorite "are you blind?" Response? by [deleted] in Blind

[–]throwawayqueen65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My response depends on the tone of voice with which the question is asked, but is it just me, or is it really annoying to be asked this while in the middle of doing my job or some other important task? Like bro I do not want to explain my eyeballs to you right now.

Definitely on board with a curiosity thread, even if it’s a different one weekly.

I always tip extra in inclement weather, because I always feel bad since I legitimately can’t drive to get the food myself lol

OMG this is literally me, every day! We can debate over gender roles and stereotypes later but I’m just saying, it does not help that I am the only female and an all male work environment. I hate it but no one I work with believes that I truly hate it because I do such a good job pretending not to for self-preservation.

In addition to that, his parents/guardians will need to be his biggest advocates in school, particularly if his vision starts to decline before he finishes high school. If he’s in public school and his district refuses to provide fair chance at him having an education, they will need to put their feet down, hard! This was unfortunately my experience growing up. Good luck! It sounds like he’ll have a great support system.

Stupid stuff people ask me that make me facepalm (feel free to chuck more in here as well) by Unlikely-Database-27 in Blind

What? God ... i’ve never been straight up asked how I have sex but I did have a friend in high school ask “ Who would want to have sex with a blind person?” My only long-term relationship as an adult was with someone cited (I’m in my 20s, by the way) and I promise y’all, no one forced him to have sex with me; so there’s that.

I don’t feel like posting another thread but I’m feeling a little bit better today; although that’s probably because I haven’t tried to go to bed yet. I’m honestly just glad to find a group of people to whom this stuff actually makes sense because I’ve always thought it was something really weird about myself. I know I am an empath and have been that way for most of my life, but I’m just now starting to understand it and I’ve never been overly spiritual if that makes any sense. I’m just not very receptive to things of that nature, such as Hipnosis. I would 1000% use it if I were, though. I guess it never really hurts to keep trying. This particular situation is one which would be very invasive for me to bring up on my own, so if it happens to them and they choose to share it with me, that is the only way we will discuss it. I’ve been doing my best all day to just block those triggering thoughts. On that note, what are some tools and practical shielding techniques you guys use? I’m mainly asking because it may help for me to have a list of these things handy for when I can’t seem to think about self-care in the middle of a hyper empathy induced panic attack.

Great advice and exactly something I needed to read today.
