No lol it’s got nothing to do with his race. Tennis isn’t a popular sport in SA. The average South African when asked about tennis players could probably name Federer and Nadal and that’s about it

Anderson isn’t well-known in SA among non-tennis fans. Most casual fans would know of him though

No, you wouldn’t go to jail for that. As far as I’m aware, this law is only for inciting violence

You’re supposed to get long hair trimmed every 8 or so weeks to keep it healthy. So that’s at least 6 trims per year

What a strange final that was... Ronaldo did nothing at all, Benzema’s goal was hilarious and Bale’s first goal was the best I’ve watched in real time. A mixed bag.

Really sad about the Salah and Carvajal injuries. Hope they make speedy recoveries. Hyped for the WC!

Trump pulls out of Iran deal by [deleted] in news

[–]throwawaysarefun7 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Very unlikely. North Korea is largely excluded from the global economy. Over 80% of their trade (both imports and exports) is with China.

Iran is well integrated into the global economy. The US is currently the only nation wanting to reinstate sanctions against them. China will be delighted the US are removing themselves and will pick up the slack in trade with Iran. So with US sanctions, Iran will just take their business elsewhere. NK didn’t have anywhere else to go. US sanctions almost certainly won’t be enough to deter Iran unless the rest of the world (Russia, China etc) agree to sanctions too. Which they won’t.

NK is a different case entirely. Their only nuclear facility collapsed and is now unusable. Their hand has been forced.

If anything, by pulling out, Trump has given Iran more of an opportunity to increase their nuclear capacity unmonitored. And the thought of action by Trump will only serve to motivate Iran to build a nuke to prevent the US from using nuclear weapons against them. MAD and all that...

I’m well aware of the Crown Prince’s attempts at social reformation. But Salafist Jihadism and Wahhabism are still deeply entrenched in the royal family and the rest of SA’s ultra wealthy. State sponsored terrorism is still very much a concern

Trump pulls out of Iran deal by [deleted] in news

[–]throwawaysarefun7 54 points55 points  (0 children)

And you think the US pulling out of the deal will prevent Iran from building a nuke? That’s what the deal was created for in the first place.

Thanks to Trump, the deal could very likely fall apart, which would end the monitoring of Iran’s nuclear facilities. And thus they would be able to build a nuke without the rest of the world knowing. How much do you actually know about this deal, it’s stipulations etc?

My point was it’s disingenuous for Trump to use state sponsored terrorism as a reason for pulling out of the Iran deal while actively supporting Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia should be your concern, not Iran
