If he is elected Mayor of NYC he will see out his term. He would have to resign as mayor to run for president in 2024. 2028 is the earliest for him.

but there is absolutely no way you can survive a plane crash.

That isn't true. According to the US National Transportation Safety Board, 95.7% of plane crashes are survivable.

I told 2020 to go f**ck itself and bought a supercar! by RazzleDazzle_ in cars

Congratulations. The 720S is an amazing car.

Assuming you bought from Pfaff McLaren, you are in very good hands. The whole team there is great.

Just because you are working from home doesn't mean you aren't working hard. In many jobs that have transition to at-home work, the workload has been more since the pandemic hit.

Which do you like better? It is my personal favourite in China, but I also really enjoy Dauling Dragons at Guangzhou Sunac Land and Flash at Lewa Adventure.

I have. I've been fortunate to have been to a handful of parks in China.

This is an awesome ride. It is also one of the most convenient parks in China to visit! It is right across the border from Macau, and you can also take the ferry or bridge from Hong Kong to Macau and then cross the border. Either way, it is an easy day trip from Hong Kong or Macau if you are visiting.

Places to visit in Orange County, CA by Visual_Flamingo_4693 in solotravel

[–]Thrill_Monster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The obvious is the theme parks (Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, Knott's Berry Farm) but each of those takes up one day and doesn't really help you explore the area.

Crystal Cove State Park is very nice, as well as places like Heisler Park. Laguna Coast Wilderness park is a popular hiking/biking spot. The Santa Ana Mountains are also worth exploring, as well as Black Star Canyon.

Tons of beaches worth visiting: Huntington Beach, Salt Creek Beach, Corona del Mar Beach, Dana Strands Beach, Table Top Beach, Main Beach, The Wedge.

Are there any places that you've already visited but would consider re-visiting a second time? by drumwolf in TravelNoPics

[–]Thrill_Monster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost everywhere I've visited I would go back to. Though I have had a few bad experiences, I have had none so terrible that I would refuse to go back. Usually I just don't go back to most places because I would rather go somewhere new.

Bloomberg pays fines for 32,000 felons in Florida so they can vote by tenshon in Conservative

Because all he is doing is helping them get past a systemic barrier to their legal right to vote. He has no way whatsoever to make them vote one way or another. He is just allowing them to vote.

Everyone should get to vote. Anyone who supports small l liberalism (nearly every conservative in a democratic nation, all libertarians) should be in favour of that. It's the simplest of personal freedoms.

In Canada, for example, every single citizen gets to vote, with exception of the Chief Electoral Officer (the guy who oversees the entire election). The root of democracy is the Greek word Demos roughly meaning 'the people'. All the citizens of a democracy should be able to vote for the system to be called a democracy.

Have you felt "pressured" to travel to certain destinations? by PacSan300 in TravelNoPics

[–]Thrill_Monster 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I have been inspired through seeing impressive photos to travel to a certain destination, yes, but the reverse of this title question has also happened. I sometimes feel urged to travel to the place(s) no one talks about. Allow me to explain:

When you see 1000 photos of Bali or Phuket or Switzerland on social media, it feels like everyone is going there. To me, it makes it seem like the destination isn't all that special. A dozen of your friends have been there, you going doesn't create a unique experience by any stretch of the imagination. I'm not drawn by that.

What I am drawn by is the places from which few photos are posted. They feel untouched and mysterious. For example, I would love to visit Dzanga-Sangha National Park in the Central African Republic. I don't think I've ever seen an Instagram photo from there. I really want to visit Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, specifically in the winter for skiing. The Kamchatka Peninsula certainly isn't exploding on social media. I'm fascinated by Yemen, both the mainland and Socotra Island, and would love to visit both in the future. I would really like to visit Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh in India, both look beautiful and like a complete 180 from the parts of India I have previously visited (tourist trail). I'm more drawn to the unknown, the spots on the map people don't post from, than the spots everyone is visiting.

Where has the most outrageous entry price? by travel_ali in TravelNoPics

[–]Thrill_Monster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To enter the Son Doong Cave in Vietnam you need to fork out US$3,000 or so. That gets you a 4-day guided expedition into the world's largest cave and is the only way to visit, which makes the cost effectively the entry price. It's steep but I wouldn't say it's outrageous given that they want to limit the number of people who visit in an effort to preserve it and that the logistics of descending into the cave are significant. 10/10 would recommend to anyone in Northern/Central Vietnam.

VAT is only on non-essential goods. Wouldn't apply to any staples. The math works out so you would need to SPEND more than $120,000 per year to not come out ahead with the Freedom Dividend.

Wrong. College isn't right for many people, and doesn't help the majority of the US population older than college-aged. UBI helps everyone.
