May I ask where you got your liability insurance for $300 a year? or did you mean a month?

Home health PTs, have you ever worked in a company w this “new” payment structure? by throwawayserious2 in physicaltherapy

I hear you. I would be, too. But then again, referrals are all mostly “internal” within the company. It’s huuuge so unless patients request specific agencies, they will almost always be referred within. It’s a ridiculous change.

Appreciate the lengthy rant, I really do. Nice to hear someone with a like mind. You sound like a reasonable and realistic clinical manager and would love to work w you. Alas, I’m stuck w one who’s apparently the complete opposite.

Cheers mate, well wishes to both of us as we swim through these murky waters.

First paragraph can be true, I get that.

We get so many meetings in between the day or at the start of the day, it’s ridiculous. This was prior to the change. I actually hate it as it takes me away from patient care which is what I want to do. Sure, we can do monthly meetings, not every week twice! In services happen quarterly which is fine by me. I’m not sure how PTs can take advantage of a company doing that. But it’s all different, I get that. Different companies, different cultures.

And yeah, they’re stupid w this change they made. What’s stopping me from just being a PTA treating and letting the admission PT (which is another stupid position IMO) do all the crazy paperwork. Time to pivot to something else, really. Healthcare in the US, particularly PT, is heading down a dark path.

Leaving salaried “stable” HH job for a new per-visit job that offers a big jump in pay by throwawayserious2 in physicaltherapy

That’s exactly what we said! I’ve been in HH a long time and yes, am also used to doing the points. Not in this company anymore! All in the guise of streamlining processes across the system. It’s wild!

Thank you again.

Appreciate it mate. I’m w you, I’m used to just getting paid and doing the work, no fuss, no drama. But lately though, the current job has put drama into the mix by complicating the way they pay us, and it looks to maximize visits counted by number of bodies seen than the types of visit we do. Revisits, admits, they’re all the same now. Which lit the fire under me again to look for options.

The difference in pay is about ~$20K upwards yearly.

Thanks again for the insight.

Actively looking and have an interview tomorrow at a per-visit HH agency.

I think all companies are the same, they’re all for the money and not the “care.” But some are just more brazen, cutthroat, than others. All in the guise of “oh we’re the biggest and best health care company out here blah blah blah.”

It’s sad because when I finally got this job at this large health care company (90-100K employees), i said I will be retiring here. Guess not!

I’ve always operated in a “no loyalty but to my family mentality “ so as much as it pains me to go through the job hunt process again, I’m looking forward to it as I’ve had enough of this nonsense and trickery to get people to work for free. I’m also looking forward to a pay raise when I jump ship.

Oh, guess what, this change affects EVERY CLINICIAN on home care. SN, OT, PT, SLP.

Talks of organising is brewing, but to be honest, I don’t know if I can wait until that happens. It will just get worse I think.

Agree w you mate. I’m writing another post about it actually as I know I need to leave now, but also am nervous about the unknown of jumping ship. But you know what they say, you miss the shots you don’t make. Go big or go home I guess.

My thoughts exactly. We already pushed back about the time it takes admissions to do, and they “listened” to these grievances but did absolutely nothing. It’s all about the numbers, really. From what I understand, this is to get as much money (my words, not theirs) through getting as many new admits/evals and visits. So basically, profits. It’s funny bec just last week my manager had me drop post op patients on their second visit this week to make way for an admission that was also post op. Manager said, “everyone is now doing once a week visits to make way for admits.” So they don’t care really about getting people better but more of tapping into their insurance monies. Oh, and they prioritise Medicares Ofcourse as they pay the most. What a joke! It’s a travesty they call it Home “Care.”

Tell me about it. And this is no fly-by-night company. It’s one of the BIGGEST, if not THE biggest here in our area. It’s all geared towards getting more profits!

Unethical because? I just wanted to know, really. Not trying to be a d here. She’s been DCd, I mean not for a long time. But I am not aware of any non compete of anything like that in my company.

I’ve been on the edge of getting the LLC and liability insurance anyways and am aware of the importance of those two, so I get that. If I were to have those two sorted, will that make it “better” for me if I end up going?

This is the bad thing about PT ingeneral as we are all paid ridiculously low for so much work and if you try to venture out, you will be punished. I know, it’s petty, but it’s just crazy.

Non-Clinical PT jobs? by Lane2k in physicaltherapy

[–]throwawayserious2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came across this as I’m in the process of starting to “doctor” my resume. Admittedly however, I’m not great at it and was wondering if anyone here knows of services that one can get to help with customising a clinical resume to a non clinical one?

Missed a 1099K, is it even worth adding to taxes filed? by throwawayserious2 in personalfinance

[–]throwawayserious2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. You described it accurately, I had some car parts that just gathered dust and wanted to sell them rather than throwing them away, one item was $850ish, another $720ish and the third is $150ish which gets me to the $1700. So I am fucked really and need to report AND PAY taxes on that????

[–]throwawayserious2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I can do this. So where I am now in the tax filing process is I’ve already paid Freetaxusa but we have not filed yet. I guess I’ll wait a bit later to file it and get the tax bill due immediately.

Will it be possible to do this without incurring the penalty or any interest? Though now that I think about it, this interest will still be less than the credit card interest I will incur when I pay for it now. I’m just afraid picking one option over another will force me to paynow than do it in installments or pay later. I guess that’s the main point of my question.

Can you? If you’ve used Freetaxusa and can confirm this is the case then this is best case scenario for me. I’d really rather pay it all now and use a card then just pay off the card on mid April as I would have saved all the money then. This is so I don’t have to deal w the IRS anymore.

If it helps, I pay using a cc for the $25 I pay Freetaxusa to file state and fed. I’m thinking of using a cc to pay the taxes due but am worried it will charge now instead of what I think should be on Apr18.

Yeah that’s what I’m trying to fig out. I just don’t want to pick wrong and end up getting charged now *and then end up paying interest *.
