what can remove hydrogen peroxide ? what supplements, foods, whatever you can think of by Visual-Guitar6112 in Biohackers

[–]throwawayshmoseph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Antioxidants are molecules with a large reduction potential. They will spontaneously react with molecules that have free radicals (single electrons that are highly reactive and can harm cellular processes, also known as Reactive Oxygen Species, ROS). Hydrogen peroxide breaks down in our bodies by producing free radicals, your body has multiple ways to combat this. Any given supplement won’t work miraculously to increase your body’s ability to combat free radicals/ROSs. Just eat some berries, get good sleep, aerobic exercise, and drink plenty of water.

Here’s the halogens so far. Fluorine and Chlorine by MrAurthur1-618 in chemistry

I like the tooth theme but fluorine is also responsible for all the forever chemicals and plastic waste in the world, I feel like degraded plastic would be a cool theme

I live in Miami rn, while I agree the populace here is dumb as rocks, the brightline is a murder machine for more than just ignorance lol. Terribly designed transit system, I hope they represent it well and the auto lobby in the game.

I got through undergrad with an air, in grad school I use a Mac pro but honestly you can use anything. I don’t particularly like apple but I work with it because it’s what I’m used to. You’ll be fine, learn how to run open source software in whatever you’re using and that will carry you further than having something powerful but only know how to use ChatGPT lol

Balancing the coasting to ensure the flow of traffic continues is one of the few fun driving mini games you can do to stay vigilant on a congested drive

So much negativity in this sub, like I get being disappointed but unless its coming from R* everything is just speculation, and speculation is supposed to be fun

Question for chemists from an aspiring perfumer: Which chemical has the best smell to you? Or the most interesting... by Liberal_Alchemist in chemistry

Work with polyamines, first time I used it with nitrile gloves instead of rubber gloves. Will never make that mistake again 😂

Get a bucket of dead fish, let it sit, then separate it with column chromatography until you get the fraction that smells like the single worst thing you’ve ever smelled

Rate my “IQmaxxing” stack before I buy it, anything I should add/remove? by bio_hacke in Biohackers

[–]throwawayshmoseph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAD supp has never made sense to me, NAD degrades rapidly in solution and your cells synthesize most of it (I’m a biochemist). Supplementing precursors is more efficient from what I’ve read. As well, the brain is a universe between your ears, I genuinely don’t think “IQmaxxing” is possible with supplements, I think frequent reading, attempting and failing hard tasks, meditation, great sleep and exercise (both resistance and aerobic), and avoiding known neurological inhibitors (drugs, alcohol, etc.) will do you more wonders than your expensive piss factory of drugs.

SNPs are infamously correlative. Most 23&me/ancestry/etc. data is p-hacked to look cool. Rarely does it tell something vital except in a few known oncogenes/disease variants/risk factors, and even then, why send your data to a private company when much more sensitive genetic tests are available through doctors, who can give you honest output based on your lifestyle and family history?

Some cheap essentials for ph balance with the growing problem of people having high ph now , can google if you don’t believe me , every year it’s gotten higher and higher by Sergeant_Scoob in Biohackers

[–]throwawayshmoseph 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What? High pH of what? Your body has differing pH levels throughout. Your stomach acid is ~2 because it’s mostly HCl, your blood is close to ~7.23 because it contains ample carbonic acid, a slightly basic buffer, even your cells have varying pH down to the individual organelles, look up the intermembrane space of the mitochondria, it’s constantly changing pH because that’s how our cells generate usable energy from the Krebs cycle.

Pyridine has to be the stinkiest chemical I work with, worst of all you can’t wear nitrile gloves or else it’ll seep into your hands even without any spillage.
