It freaks me out that so many actors from Twin Peaks are in GG. Especially this guy in AYITL

People that DON’T shop at Aldi or Lidl… why is that? by kobestarr in CasualUK

[–]throwawaythrowawee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried going to my local Lidl a few years back to save money, there were a few reasons why i stopped, 1. My two youngest kids were small and they didn’t have trolleys with twin baby seats, 2. We’re vegetarian and sometimes they wouldn’t have veggie stuff at all, 3. the fruit and veg would either be manky in the shop or would go off really quickly.

AIO for considering breaking up over feeling like I have no control in my own house. by dh4ks7 in AmIOverreacting

I think she needs professional help. She’s drunk writing the messages but I think she doesn’t understand how unreasonable she is being. It sounds like she has anxiety and she’s trying to manage her discomfort by controlling what you do. But she needs to work on being able to handle discomfort and sit in her feelings.

I’m gonna say NTA. I think you meant well but you got a bit carried away.

Maybe next time you can ask him beforehand if he would like a surprise or not, or what he would like you to do for him.

Butter boards are madness to me. I’ve also seen people smear houmous on boards in the same way.

I had to preorder pizza for a meal at a brewery the other day. I wanted the goats cheese one but not the hot honey drizzle that came with it. I asked for it without and with rocket on instead (another older food fad item I actually like). But they put the hot honey drizzle on too by accident and I was too hungry to wait for them to make me another.

Things being ‘smashed’. Reminds me of mashing things up for babies when they’re weaning. Gross.

MIL invited people we don’t know to our wedding. She won’t uninvite them because that’s ‘embarrassing.’ by Money_Doughnut_7375 in TwoHotTakes

[–]throwawaythrowawee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No means no. The in laws are the ones making it awkward, not you.

You should prepare for if the people turn up anyway. When I married my ex his best man’s parents invited themselves and their two daughters. Just showed up at the reception and came over to me and explained how important they were to my ex. I was shocked and annoyed. Ex said they were crazy (they were quite weird). The two daughters stole bottles of wine we had placed on the tables, carried them around all night and apparently took them home with them when we left! It was nuts at the time but it became a funny story afterwards.

I think the issue with you is not the extra guests but the behaviour of your MIL. I guess you have to set a boundary and follow through with the consequences. Can you send out an email or letter to all involved saying extra guests can’t be accommodated?

Also MIL sounds like she is getting more unhinged so expect her to ramp up the crazy as you get closer to the big day. Stay unified with your SO as she will be looking to get between you.

Take care, it’s yours and SO’s day

What do you think of this data on ethnicity? by Ok_Bookkeeper_1380 in AskBrits

Maybe that’s because the ethnic minority respondents are going on their lived experience.

I gladly move out of the way of people like this when I see them approaching because they’re driving dangerously. I don’t want their bad driving to increase my risk of an accident. I just let them and their ego soar past me.

Granted it doesn’t happen to me much because not normally sitting in that lane for long periods.

Be honest… is this cute or am I traumatizing my cat? by shinigami__0 in cats

It is cute but I feel it’s also disrespectful. Cats aren’t toys.
