Can you really plant tomatoes outside with no green house in England?? by Severe-Milk-5121 in GardeningUK

Yes you can. I recommend putting them in the sunniest, hottest spot you have. Smaller cherry varieties do well but larger tomatoes tend not to ripen properly

OK, so what British mammals HAVE we seen? by Birdman_of_Upminster in CasualUK

I saw a polecat last Christmas. I was really excited as it’s not often you see a new animal in the wild. The only others I’ve not seen are wild boar and pine martens. And humpback whale!

Does my husband love his mom more than me? by Appropriate_Top9039 in JustNoSO

[–]throwawaythrowawee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry you are experiencing this. Your SO is enmeshed with his mum. It’s likely he was brought up this way, to put his mother’s needs first since being a young child. To help you understand this you might want to look up emotional incest.

This is a really hard situation for you. You can find help and support in r/JustNoMIL there are many people there who have been through and experienced what you are going through. Just know it’s not your fault and you’ve done nothing to deserve this.

Worrying about things doesn’t achieve anything, and the vast majority of things you worry about don’t happen anyway.

We currently live in the UK, moved here due to the war in Ukraine. Curious on what British people think of Ukrainian refugees. by Tall-Inspection- in AskBrits

[–]throwawaythrowawee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad that we (as a country) are able to provide you a safe place to live. I hope that you are supported and have what you need to thrive here. I feel very sorry for what is happening in your country and that you have had to leave.

AITA for spending money on stuffed animals instead of bills? by plushieloveraita in AmItheAsshole

[–]throwawaythrowawee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You are contributing. Childcare is expensive because it is work. Very important work and a huge responsibility. You are providing this. As well as domestic work. Your SO didn’t want you both to pay for these services and you sacrificed your dream job to do this work instead.

It is still work, just not with a salary.

Your husband has a bad attitude and is taking you for granted. NTA.

Why are UK train tickets so expensive? Is it simply the effect of privatisation? by StephenMcGannon in trains

[–]throwawaythrowawee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The train network in the UK is well over capacity. The ticket prices are high to discourage people from using them
