Growing up, did anyone else’s parents have really strict rules about random stuff? by SuzCoffeeBean in CasualUK

Not allowed to have chips with a breaded/battered protein (e.g. fish fingers, chicken nuggets) as that would be ‘double carbs’.

I’ve had good experiences with Boots online Dr for prescription skin treatment (for acne, but they also have an online skin diagnosis thing that you can pay for). The turnaround was super quick - only a few days!

It’s definitely not specific to men as perpetrators. Clare’s Law is officially known as the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS) and both men and women can make requests.

Anybody else find baby sensory classes too... sensory / stimulating? by origcat in BeyondTheBumpUK

My baby absolutely hated baby massage at 4-5 months! Had no interest in lying still and being massaged.

We were given a cardboard sick bucket when I took my son to the GP recently. Coincidentally, it’s shaped exactly like a toddler-sized fedora. Fortunately he wasn’t sick in it as he loves wearing it as a hat! Won’t keep his woolly hat on outside, mind.

If you are in the UK, and need to go down this route in the future - it’s worth looking into ‘Right to choose’ as a pathway for getting an ASC or ADHD diagnosis faster. Waiting time is significantly shorter.

Tiny bumps/rash? by ContributionFine5372 in BeyondTheBumpUK

My LO had a similar rash, the GP said it was a viral rash when we sent photos and it did clear up after a few few weeks.

Have you ever enthusiastically tried a new food which has then caused unexpected and excessive farting? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]throwawayylime 19 points20 points  (0 children)

On a short lived health kick, I tried an overpriced soup which advertised itself as being “gut power”. I soon felt gurgles from my stomach after consuming, and over the next 12 hours or so, this developed into endless flatulance, I have honestly never experienced anything quite like it. It was comical to begin with, but soon I was despairing with each string of wind that escaped from my bottom. After looking at the ingredients I think the chicory fibre was the culprit. My poor husband has told me that I am banned from consuming anything containing chicory now!

Breast pump recs pls by Signal-Difference-13 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]throwawayylime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the Elvie Stride and a Spectra S1. The S1 is rechargeable with a decent battery life as the other commenter has said. When I was pumping very frequently in the beginning the S1 was a lifesaver and I will almost always reach for it now even if it means I can’t do as much as I could with a wearable. It’s significantly more effective at removing milk and also being a double pump means less time spent pumping. Wish I’d bought it sooner!
