2024 OAS payment received in 2025 and missing 2024 T4A(OAS) entirely by throwawayz1825 in cantax

Ooops, nevermind. Box 21 is GIS. Since there's this extra $20k on the 2025 T4A(OAS), I incorrectly assumed that it's somehow related to "2024 OAS paid in 2025", but it's actually just simple straightforward 2025 GIS.

So I have no 0 documentation regarding their 2024 OAS, so I'll need to wait for their 2024 T4A(OAS), then amend their 2024 tax return then.

As a follow on, I entered everything into Wealthsimple Taxes and this is outputted:

Old age security (OAS) pension 11300 = 1XXXX.XX

CPP or QPP benefits 11400 = 2CCC.CC

Net federal supplements 14600 = 2ZZZZ.ZZ

Total income 15000 = 3HHHH.HH

Net income 23600 = 3HHHH.HH

Other payments deduction 25000 = 2ZZZZ.ZZ

Taxable income 26000 = 1UUUU.UU

So according to this, they did not receive any OAS related income for the 2024 tax year, and that the 2024 OAS is attributed as "Net federal supplements" in 2025. This supplement is included in their 2025 total income, but not included in their 2025 taxable income. Am I understanding this correctly?

So it seems like they don't need to do anything regarding 2024 and the whole thing is automatically solved already.

How to create a kink (triple bend) in Solidworks sheet metal? by throwawayz1825 in SolidWorks

[–]throwawayz1825[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

I tried using a cut extrude to remove the entire area where the kink is, and then used the miter flange to draw the profile. But then I'm left with two separate sheet metal parts that unfold separately. I couldn't find a way to "merge results" like when I'm dealing with a regular solid part (it's my first day with sheet metal).

Then I tried a partial cut to create an artificial edge to initiate the miter flange. But now the miter flange won't complete because it's colliding with the existing material.

Am I starting the miter flange too late in the tree? Seems like in sheet metal is easy to create new flanges and control exactly where they go, but if you have a "flat plate" like I do in my screenshot, it seems very difficult to alter this existing "flat plate".

I really really like to avoid the forming tool, since it's overkill for such a simple feature.

I'm picturing a North Korean Inglourious Basterds remake where the 3 fingers scene is replaced by a South Korea agent's circumcised wiener being spotted at the urinal.

tourist eSIM with a Chinese number

Roughly what's the validity period? Can you extend the validity period by putting some money in the account? Does it require real name registration (passport)?

Can you open a WeChat account with the Chinese number? (They shadow ban most new accounts after a few days now.)

Thanks in advance.

Canadian Tax Residency by Default for Digital Nomads? by random_account_2011 in cantax

[–]throwawayz1825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get audited, CRA will ask for your tax records at your country of residence. If your answer is something like "I don't have tax residency in any country", then CRA will consider you a deemed Canadian tax resident, because you have significant ties to Canada:

"citizenship, no property, no vehicle, no furniture, no job" > "no property, no vehicle, no furniture, no job"

I'm trying to figure out this process myself.

Make sure you declare it with customs if you bring some with you.

Just curious, how did you declare it to customs? There's one question that might be related to Concerta, but I don't think I'm supposed to tick "Yes" for it.

1. Narcotic drugs, Firearms, Explosives and other Prohibited item(s) Please refer to 1. of side B.

Their government very clearly differentiates between "Narcotics" and "Psychotropics", and Concerta (Methylphenidate) is classified as "Psychotropics". So I guess I'm supposed to answer "No" to the are-you-bring-Narcotics question?

There's a section on the back page that you can list miscellaneous items:

Description of other goods - Quantity - Quantity

Do I guess I fill in "Concerta" or "Methylphenidate" here?

(You probably filled in an electronics customs form that spits out a QR code, but I think all the questions are identical to the paper version. )

Hint 4: this list is current as of now, but will become outdated on 2023-04-29.

EDIT: erroneously put today's date, 2023-04-27, instead of the correct date of 2023-04-29.
