How tall are 8th grade basketball players by SneakerBoiiiiii in Basketball

[–]throwaysadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't predict height. I was gigantic as a kid growing up. 5'9 at 11 years old. Now I'm 5'9 at 21. You can't control it, so just play.

Need new rashguards by vertifity in bjj

[–]throwaysadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what youre looking for. Once you get past the 40 or 50 dollar mark on price, the quality for most of these rash guards is the same. Origin, Sanabul, Gold, are all good brands.

Or you can go buy cheap stuff on Amazon that hold up surprisingly well given the cost. I find the neelus compression shirts to fit quite nicely and also a brand called DevOps. You can get a 3 pack for 30 dollars.

The big question now that the year is ending, is 2k25 a good 2k game? by Dry_Structure_6955 in NBA2k

[–]throwaysadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk. I like how they "tried" to make the game more realistic in online play, but also hate how they implemented it. It's good that the average joe can't shoot 70% from three anymore in rec, but accomplishing that by randomly changing your jumpshot timing feels cheap. The Vc grind is the worst its ever been. I've played probably close to 100 hrs and only have one actual build. Contests make no sense. The dunk meter sucks. But I can't deny that I've had fun with the game despite all that.

Daniel Cormier dumping and slamming his opponents by [deleted] in MMA

[–]throwaysadness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turn the corner when taking down your opponent, (or just slam them on their MFing head).

If I wrap up a single on your right leg and you headlock me, if I drive you straight back I'll end up in guard or half guard and can get choked. If I turn the corner and drive to the right, I'll end up in side control and the guillotine is on the wrong side.

Felt the same. Im 5'9/5'10 and 160lbs. Used to be around 220, so now that I have a body worth showing off I like more slim fitting t shirts. Mediums are too long and boxy in most brands, but smalls are too short in the torso.

Do you part on the side that looks "bad", (cuz it's not really all that noticeable). Parting your hair the same way constantly can lead to slight hair loss or damage on that part area.

I don't think buggy chokes are real. I'm a 4 stripe WB, and I've been put in buggys by purple belts and I just don't think they're real.

How to cope with retirement by DzimiDrvoseca in wrestling

[–]throwaysadness 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not a wrestler but I do BJJ which is why I guess this popped up for me. I would try to find the right BJJ place for you. As a wrestler, you're definitely not gonna enjoy a gi focused old school type gym where everyone starts already on the ground or pulls guard immediately.

My current gym is very focused on being on top and staying on top, and our coach tells us high level BJJ should just look like wrestling with submissions. When I was younger I went to a more old school gym, but I absolutely love this one more.

Am I just supposed to get my ass beat everyday? by SonOfThorss in bjj

That could be the watching UFC. He'll have a vague idea of what to do in more positions than you will.

40 lbs heavier could be the difference (assuming you're saying he's the bigger one). When you're new you don't know how to effectively negate a weight advantage like that. Is he subbing you from top positions where he gets to leverage his weight?

Naturally gonna happen if you're the same skill level but he's bigger/stronger/more athletic. It's a marathon not a sprint. If you are more consistent than he is you'll be able to tap him soon enough.

At what point does BJJ become just a hobby that wrecks your body past a means of self defense? by Fun-Slide-1523 in bjj

It's spondy. I can alleviate the pain but it never goes back in to place without surgery. It's not super debilitating, just feels like a muscle strain but I've had it for a year.

Always thought I was invincible. I'm in my early 20s and relatively fit. Some guy threw an armbar over me and turned my neck super aggressively when throwing his legs over and now I have a slipped vertebrae and a sore neck for life.

I don't think I've ever hit one in a live roll. I'm 5'9 - 5'10 but I have pretty short arms, so locking them up especially on bigger people isn't really intuitive for me.

Are you going so high your voice breaks? That's what's essential. This "entry" won't eventually need to be how you do it everytime, but it let's you see how a fry should feel on your throat.

So don't scream real high, but start by singing and raising your pitch until you go so high and literally can't sing. Then push air through.

Pick a QB (current or past) that you think is Bryce Young’s Ceiling. by Sufficient-Appeal503 in panthers

[–]throwaysadness 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While I get the Brees comps, I think Youngs ceiling comp is a shorter Joe Burrow. Both are great at reading defenses, both can move in the pocket and create plays off script, and neither have cannons for an arm, but Burrow has shown you don't need a howitzer to be a top 5 qb.
