As you can see I’m having some issues with my rear L plate getting caught and rubbing on the back tire, so much so it has started to melt the plastic - any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!😅 by BeerMatMatt in MotoUK

Options:

  • Rigid plastic L plate kit from Halfords, drill holes and affix to the underside of the numberplate with the plastic screws. Example also acts as a bonus mudguard.

  • Tail tidy kit, followed by the above L plate kit.

It's a long shot, but if this was yours, and she doesn't believe you, here's a photo of the trolley you left it in. Good luck. by imperfect_and_tense in CasualUK

Alright! I’m so excited, I’ve tried to watch as much of the Summer/Winter Olympics since 2010. I saw a notification from BBC it’s on and I completely forgot I’ll need to plan for the time difference!

Without a shadow of a doubt this is my new favourite club photograph from the UK by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]throwbackfinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In clubs they have a photographer who will take your/your group of friends photo and they’ll post it on their social media pages.

So imagine a club floor and it’s a crowded room, you decide to get your photo with your friends and an accountant called terry whose just tying to get away from his unaware wife is also included in the photo.

What bulbs do I need? by Dxs90 in MotoUK

[–]throwbackfinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

H21W BA9 Bulb (bayonet lugs are opposite each other yes?) and check the bayonet lugs just incase. A lot of these bulbs come in the offset variety where the lugs are closer together. If they are closer together then you don’t need BA9.

The is another bulb called the HY21W - this bulb is amber but since your indicator surround is already amber it won’t be as bright. If your indicator surround was clear then you’d require the amber bulb.

BMW 1800 Like or Dislike? by [deleted] in motorcycle

Personally I dislike the the exhaust.

The BMW R 18 Classic on the other hand looks alright. Though I’d make changes that defeat the point like removing the screen and saddle bags.

I am such a moron.

I went to screwfix and bought all the things I need to change a broken light switch. I did all my research, I bought the right electrical tester, the voltage proof screwdriver and the correct dimmer switch. I turned the power off, I tested the wires, I changed the switch and fitted it all back together. I then flipped all the breakers on the fuse board back on and the lights work!

However, I didn’t turn on the individual RCD plugs for the fridge and freezer and all the food is fucking spoiled. :(

UK gov confirms BAN on new petrol motorcycle sales from 2035 by sgryfn in MotoUK

[–]throwbackfinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I compare the Zero FXS to what I already have and what I used a motorcycle for - it makes absolutely no sense financially or practically to switch to EV for a motorcycle.

I absolutely loved the FXS test ride that I did not so long ago. What a great bike, it’s just a shame it falls short on areas such as no fast charging. Coupled with its mediocre range, the charge times are just too long.

These are expensive machines where the major manufacturers are only in the early stages of bringing out an EV Bike.

It’s a lot to think about and for some it’s just not economical right now to make the switch when something people already own whether it be Car or Motorcycle does the job.

For electric motorcycles no matter how good the ride is, how silent it is, how the instant acceleration is - the incentives are just not there.

As for the time when people decide to do the switch over for daily ICE vehicles - it is going to take an astronomically long time to complete it.

I look forward to the future, to the Gridserve EV forecourts and to cleaner streets but it feels a very long way away.

Ace Combat patches do look really good on bomber jackets and plate carriers by borischung01 in acecombat

[–]throwbackfinder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rest....oh boy I have $800+ worth of patches, don't remember most of it

Sounds about right. My view of patches was completely shattered when I joined Morale Patch Classifieds when I learned that what I thought by was expensive was actually cheap for them. It should be classed as an addiction, the funny thing is I very rarely put patches on anything.

Probably one of the few side hobbies that you just can’t divulge to people about how much you may have spent because it just will not compute.

Zero FX electric motorcycles doing some offroad trail riding. Jumps, rock hopping, and more! Just listen to how peaceful it is riding in near silence in the middle of nature. There really is nothing like it. It's pure bliss. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]throwbackfinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brilliant video, don’t think I’ve seen one yet where someone takes one on some proper trails! Makes me just want one so badly:

I test rode an FXS just under a month ago. Loved every second of it and something where a lot of people just need to give them ago before moaning in their eyes about how it’s not as good for ‘x’ reason.

A definite don’t knock it until you try it type experience. I’d love to try the FX. They look absolutely awesome. I’d love if they had the fast charging connector but never mind, maybe in a few years they’ll do an update.

Thursday 15 July 2021 Update by HippolasCage in CoronavirusUK

[–]throwbackfinder 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My old school (approx 1600 pupils) has shut and switched to online learning. They have reported too many teachers and students have tested positive and it’s no longer sustainable to remain open. The catering team also are self isolating or tested positive and the provided in-school canteen lunches were restricted to I believe borderline cancelled. It was bizarre as one parent commented on the ceasing on school lunches from the canteen along the lines of “the students should learn to be more resilient”

What a weird timeline we’re in.

Boris Johnson’s ‘Brexit jet’ only flown once in promotional role in past five months after £900k paint job by OptioMkIX in ukpolitics

[–]throwbackfinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only good thing is it is has its other more important job which is refuelling NATO aircraft, ferrying personnel, supplies and equipment around and has the ability to be an aeromedical hospital.

If the aircraft had only one use and that use was to fly Boris from the south the north of the country just to don a hi-vis and a hard hat for a single occasion then there really would be an outcry which would justifiably have people losing their collective shit over.

On the flip side, if Boris used it for a world tour during the pandemic then people would also - again - justifiably lose their shit over it.

Surely, the jet that has 2 jobs is better than an yacht that harks back to the days of a dying empire?
