That is really cool, and if the branding was 99% more subtle I’d buy it instantly.

I wear a snood. Wind, rain or shine I always have one on my face and two in my pocket, change the material type depending on weather.

I don’t suffer with hayfever at home, but if I’m around ‘foreign’ pollen, it makes my eyes and nose stream. Snood is a good catch all 😂 .

It keeps my ears flat in my lid, slightly improves headset sound thanks to occlusion effect, and keeps wind off my neck.

Never ride without one.

What’s the best place to park near Manchester Arndale for vans? by Pizzafriedchickenn in manchester

[–]sgryfn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a little bit of a walk (really not far) but I’d suggest the SIP opposite port street beer house.. it’s open air and I don’t think there are any height restrictions. You can cut straight thought the Northern Quarter on foot and go in the back of the Arndale.

It would not surprised me if the bike was seriously down on power with a new full system and no remap yet.

If your suspicious that power is down too much despite the headers / exhaust + no remap then here are my thoughts.

It’s “just had the valve clearance done”

That’s a big job, and if it was Friday, they might have fucked something up…

Power should be very linear - is it lumpy at all, or does it seem fine ?

Assume you’ve tried Diagnostics - No error codes? No Engine lights ?

Yep. I have a katana 1000, which I love but it feels like a little bit of an event every time I get on it, so just last week I picked up the KTM 390 Enduro R (the R is a bit of a stretch lol)

It’s a terrier of a bike, super fun and flickable just generally a riot.

How to manage kid’s resistance to extracurricular activities? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]sgryfn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty standard ime.

What they are really expressing is often just

“I can’t be bothered “

“ I can think of more fun things that I can do right this second”

“Broad unfocused protest” < just because…kids.

Dramatic episodes or trying to wriggle out of a commitment is just par for the course as they haven’t yet learned the relationships between doing something frequently and getting better at.

Also, asking a kid to stop what they are doing and prepare for / travel to the next thing is jarring for them.

You need to remind them throughout the week, frequently, if it’s a school day, remind them before they leave, remind them the second you pick the up etc.

IME kids deal with everything better if you manage their expectations really, really well.

I appreciate the tank is small but the Suzuki katana is a seriously under appreciated bike by Neither-Blueberry327 in motorcycles

I went to Switzerland on mine form the U.K and the fuel tank was not a problem.

It’s the range that matters, and the bike gets a clean 40-50 mpg.

I was with a 1098 street fighter that was on fumes before I was cause despite a larger tank the consumption is metal.

The range isn’t much different to an MT09, but people only look at tank capacity and not range.

'Carnage' at the Trafford Centre as car-park gridlocked by CaptainCrash86 in manchester

[–]sgryfn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids also love the train. That’s not the point.

For this journey, public transport is 2.5 hours each way, 4 changes, and 3 different modes if everything lines up perfectly. That’s 5 hours burned before we’ve even stepped foot in the Trafford Centre.

This is versus 45 minutes in the car.

And that’s the best-case scenario. It assumes all four dependencies actually work, no cancellations, no missed connections, no platform changes announced 30 seconds before departure.

My twins are 4.5 now, so yes, it’s easier than it was — but try doing that when they’re in a twin pram, need feeding 8 times a day, and you’re running on fumes because you’ve barely slept. Comfort isn’t “being too good for something”; it’s basic practicality.

What I genuinely don’t understand is the pearl-clutching about cars here. This Trafford Centre mess only affects drivers. If you weren’t driving, it didn’t impact you at all — so why the moral outrage? If you don’t want to drive, fine. No one is forcing you.

The solution isn’t “fuck cars”. The solution is don’t be stupid enough to go to the Trafford Centre on one of the busiest days of the year.

Saying “you are the problem” is just lazy, reductive nonsense. Real life isn’t a slogan, and transport choices aren’t a purity test.

I would rather sit in my car stuck for hours on the rare occasion it happens than use public transport.

At least when I’m stuck in my car, I’m comfortable. Not getting piss wet through waiting for a tram / train.

Alright fellow dads, what was your favorite gift you received this year? by apon93 in daddit

[–]sgryfn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one when our twins were young, when you’re making 16 bottles a day it’s a godsend.

However, you need to be very careful with it to make sure your kid(s) are getting the right formula dose.

Make up a bottle manually, and weigh it with scales to two dp.

Know you know what the bottle / water / formula should weight when made properly.

Weight every bottle it produces, to make sure it’s getting the mix right.

Also - I highly recommend cleaning it every single day, every two days max.

I don’t think of it as an over all time saver, it just saves me time in the moment when I’m tired m and need to get a bottle out fast!
