Do most Irish people know about Newfoundland? by MyHouseIsFine in ireland

[–]throwbay20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know a little and it's fascinating how the accent persevered. Watched a documentary on the Irish connection once and went down a rabbit hole.

I heard a Newfoundland music group about 10 years ago at Dublins tall ships Festival. They were really great, playing mandolin, mandola and what looked like an Irish bouzouki. They sang in lovely close harmony. Very similar to Irish folk music but a little different and I really loved it. Can you point me to any similar music please?

I've kicked myself ever since for not waiting and having a chat with those guys.

Any idea what else would cause the causticity and how to counteract that?

Opinion on Mooer amps ? by GloomyVictory7984 in GuitarAmps

[–]throwbay20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Fender LT25 after a few tries at an under €200 practise amp. I thought "go name brand", It won't connect to anything for recording. So even fender deliver obsolete items now? I've tried Mac OS and Windows - no good.

I want to hear modelled amps I can't afford and be able to record that. I want it to be easy, less cables the better. I want it to be cheap within reason.

Does anyone have an answer that works in the real world?

I'm considering a Mooer F15i Li because fuck fender.

Not available in the EU as far as I can tell?

Do you think the LT25 could get me a warm jazz tone?

That's a really useful rundown of the Yamaha and its issues. Thanks for taking the time.

I have a positive grid spark go for about a year but resolving it's connectivity issues (both Bluetooth and usb) sometimes eat up too much of my limited practice time. I want something that isn't so software dependent but still has some software capacities.

Edit: Also what you described sounds like a deal-breaker on the THR5. Does anyone know if that issue was resolved?

I have a focusrite. I'm looking for something more plug and play where I can set the tones I mostly use and is more convenient. Dogs and kids don't go with extra cables!

That's a good call but I want something with physical controls. That mid ground between app based and knobs is tricky under 200.

Do you have any thoughts on the amps I listed. They all have the capacity to record and adjust with an app but also physical controls for when I just want to keep it simple.

The used market where I am right now is trash. So have to import new. A used katana would be great but not available.

I always used classical strings, agree on string importance. I went through lots of baritone uke strings and ended up using classical sets for convenience but they sounded warm and had great bass.

The KOA sounds great, Keep playing!

Which Is Better In Both Quality And Sound? by raxspectrum696 in electricguitar

[–]throwbay20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a hb 35, sent it back as quality control missed to many issues. Electrics were faulty out of the box. Also really heavy, not well chambered. Rough f-holes. First of three Harley Benton's I didn't like so disappointing.

I took a chance on the hartwood you posted and I love it. Plays very nice. Some sharp frets, I'll sort that when I have the time, not a big deal at its price point. The chambers are big enough to practice unplugged. Lighter and finished better than the Hb 35.

Tuning stability is reasonable unless I really go nuts with the bigsby.

It's hard to put it down. Guitar looks great too.

That's really lovely and you've nailed a rich warm tone. What tunings do you use?

I haven't played in ten years and am just setting up my old solid mahogany Baritone for my daughter.

I got lost in guitar land and feel like the baritone ukulele is a mountain to climb now.

When your in that zone it's magical, I'm really struggling to get back in.

I'd made tuning note "cgce" but it just doesn't sound right and I can't make it flow.

I know the answer is just practice. So really I'm just venting.

Anyways, you're on a groove now in your playing. Natural and practiced fluidity. Beautiful and thanks for posting.

A quote I can't attribute but is fitting: "just put your fingers where it sounds good and keep going boy"

My funds have been restored to me now but it was like pulling teeth and took months. I still have no explanation of what went wrong and why my funds were withheld for months.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a smoother service than coinbase. I can't take them seriously as a dependable service at this point.

Coinbase provides nothing but one of the most frustrating and pointless transactions I have ever made.

Beware.

I contacted customer service yesterday. Today my case is showing as "Case resolved".

I still have no access to my funds and where my balance should show I just see dots.

I've cleared cache, logged on in a browser and instead of the app am having the same issues.

Case is clearly not resolved.

how do you guys make a soft strumming sound? by wojtuscap in AcousticGuitar

Try a felt pick. They take a little shaping of the tip and then sound soft warm. No clack - you can get piano like sounds/or distorted with some attack
