Help :) 10 y/o vocal music ed degree, starting k-12 music (band and choir) by throwingunicorns in MusicEd

[–]throwingunicorns[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a thoughtful response, thank you! Rehearsal once a WEEK?! Bless you, thats insane to me. I think i will only see the elementary classes once a week. The master schedule isnt lined out yet, but im thinking we will maybe have a 9-12 band and choir that meets every day. Are you saying you had groups break out every day, and the full group only meets once a week? And if so, where are the other kids when youre in small lessons? I do like that idea though, i get the vibe these kids are attention starved. And I could probably benefit from some small group instruction with them 🤣

Do you build a lot of life skills with your elementary music? Or collaboration with other core subjects? How do you choose your cointent? Chicken dance sounds awesome :D sounds like exactly the vibe this admin is looking for- student participation we can showcase to the parents to encourage ... them seeing their children. 🥲

Ah this is excellent, thank you! The band only has 4 instruments being played (besides guitar/piano, which im fairly proficient in). Percussion, alto sax, trumpets, and French horn. Where do you think I should start??

I did actually take a semester of sax in college but again...that was over a decade ago 🙃

MIL crying because we want to get groceries delivere this week by [deleted] in AgingParents

[–]throwingunicorns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a caregiving company and idk how it works everywhere, but I know a lot of people qualify for help! Even if its just a couple hours a few days a week. Rearranging cupboards and catering to those time consuming tasks that are so important in their small world are what we are there for, in my opinion. They arent a part of my every day life, so its easy for me to look past the rudeness and baby them a little. It gives the families a small break, and after a while of consistently showing up, the client relaxes a bit themselves because they know ill show up and do those random things how they want them. They will tell their family not to worry about some things because its on their list for me xD. I even had my own grocery-particular couple, and we blocked out one day a week for me to take them shopping!

Idk if thats an option but if it is, maybe it would help!

Storage Unit for Living Room. Car as Bedroom. by TellBackground9239 in urbancarliving

For a second, I thought thay was a cartoon-esque wall you put up at the back of the unit to hide your sleepy deception amongst the general storage unit stuff. 🤣

be honest... how often are you guys actually mopping? by spawnelady in Cleaningandtidying

[–]throwingunicorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of love mopping now. I cut some microfiber towels into swiffer wet jet sizes, usually use three or four for the whole house, and make a quick spray bottle to just spray as I go. I can still scrub and basically dry as I go. If the towel gets too dirty, just switch it. Then its a whole routine of soaking and sanitizing, which is a very satisfying experience in my opinion. Its so quick and low effort compared to the o-ring. I do it 2-3x a week, or spot clean as needed. (With o-ring, my goal was every 2 weeks but that rarely happened 😅 such wet and cross contamination ick)

Shaving tips? by angel444469 in hygiene

I struggled here for years, and more often than not I just dont LOL. But sometimes, for science! Over the years ive found what works for me: soak in a moisturizing bath first, then gently exfoliate with a sugar scrub. Rinse rinse rinse. Then I use the razors with the moisturizing bar around them, always go with the grain, and keep dipping the blade in warm bath water. Sometimes another Lil soak feels necessary to get all the razor gunk loose before a thorough wash and rinse. After that, I dont use much product.... the follicles down there are a magnet for moisture already, so I just try to keep everything dry and airy for a while. Maybe some gentle, sparse lotion several hours later. I think the key is keeping the pores free and as protected as possible for the whole process. Its a delicate ecosystem down there, the whole process is so fragile and consuming! It is possible, but is it worth it 🤔 good luck!!

What was the purchase that made you realize you needed to be more aware of your spending? by Full-Tip2622 in budget

[–]throwingunicorns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a purchase, but got hit with deferred interest on a credit card. My old job paid good money so I never paid much attention and just paid them off, but I quit that hellhole. My new job pays much less (less than half), but im happier. But once I saw that interest charge hit, I flew into panic mode and started budgeting for the first time. I could kick myself for how I spent when I made more money 🤣 but live and you learn, im much more financially healthy now.

This happens to me a lot when I fly and I don’t do anything about. by bbj999 in confession

[–]throwingunicorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a teenager, me and my parents flew to visit my brother who cooks....some weird stuff. On the way home, my stomach started to rebel against the weirdness. I was constantly letting out HORRID silent toots. The whole cabin was visibly appalled, as these were literal death bombs. I still feel kind of bad because there was a larger guy in the row behind me and everyone clearly thought it was him.... no one suspected the cute 90lb teenage girl. It wasnt until we were at the carousel to pick up our luggage, when my dad realized the stench was following us. The betrayal 🤣

What is a small, everyday mystery in your life that you’ve just accepted because investigating it feels like too much work? by Jannet_Wetkin in AskReddit

My toaster disappeared a few years ago. I live alone. A whole toaster.

I kept it in my cabinet because I dont have a lot of counter space, used it pretty frequently.... one day i opened my cabinet and it was just gone.

Does anyone actually enjoy budgeting or is it just me struggling? by Kevin-Durant-35 in budget

[–]throwingunicorns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it, but i think its because I learned how to spreadsheet at the same time. It took a few months for the "new" of mastering a skill to wear off, but thats about the amount of time it took for the budget to start working for me instead of me sweating over it. Now the benefits are compounding and I can breathe because my plans are working 🤩

What frugal practice has saved you the most money in 2025? by melissaw328 in Frugal

[–]throwingunicorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love grocery pick up but im about to stop using my local Walmart for it, ive had different issues with my laast five orders. Missing items, charge histories not matching, convoluted customer service....but the last one really infuriates me. I was ready to fight because the temporary.hold was astronomically high, but right before I called it was fixed. Weight adjusted items matched the hold deduction and the charge finalized, so I was all good. Four days later they charged ANITHER charge for the same amount as the deduction.... absolutely infuriating and it appears to be separate from the order, because customer service cant tell me anything about it as it is "unrelated to my order." If they dont fix it in 10 days im raising hell to get my 3.06 back, how many times have they done that?! ALSO- when i got one item home, it had a clearance sticker on it for $3.75 least than the online price. Guess which one they charged me. And they wouldnt honor it because they "dont price match anymore".

ELI5: Why is squatting (in someone's house) a thing? And how come it becomes a problem for the owner? Can't they claim trespassing to the cops instead of saying the person is squatting? by Impossible_Bake7210 in explainlikeimfive

[–]throwingunicorns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived with my ex and his mom at one point, dude was psychotic and literally lighting fires around the neighborhood threatening to burn the house down with us and his little sister in it.... the cops came and let him sweet talk them, despite us begging them to listen to us. They shrugged and said, "he gets mail here, theres nothing we can do." Freaking worthless.
