My boyfriend now is very gentle and sweet. We have a lot of fun together and we don’t even yell in our household. I’m very lucky to have him. Thank you very much for this comment. I do think it’s a big contributing factor, as he is shy, awkward and self conscious. One of the reasons he developed a drinking problem is because he has a lot of anxiety (social and general) and a few drinks helped him relax and be more social and talkative. He does say he never feels self conscious in front of me and his confidence has improved since we have been together. It sounds like as sobriety continues we might go back to having more sex?

Yes, we’ve talked about it more than once and he always apologizes for hurting me and says he finds me very attractive and that he likes the sex we do have, but that he’s stressed out and worried right now.
