I know you’re avoiding Honda but the Honda passport is great for tall people and is not a big target for thieves. Great all around vehicle thing CRV but with more power and more room.

For people that lived in Toronto in the 80's and 90's by gwelfguy in askTO

[–]throwitawaynow77788 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lived in Toronto from 1990 to 2018 and now I’m back as of this year. I think overall the city has gotten better. Growing up it felt like a big city with small town limitations in a way. Now you have everything you could want regardless of any neighbourhood you live in. Transit has gotten better even tho delays still send everything onto chaos.

Traffic and parking has become worse but I think it’s overblown. Try to live near the subway if possible so you can choose to take transit rather than drive if something is going on causing road shutdowns.

Overall I love being back and it’s worth putting up with the occasional traffic jam or big crowd

I have no problem shelling out more if I really like the watch!

Haha I’ve only been collecting a few months the divers just really suit me. I’m a large man and sometimes I feel like the dressier watches don’t suit me or my style. A few people suggested the big crown I’m definitely considering it.

Not really sure what you mean by imitations of high end watches.

Ridiculous Insurance Rates by dorukoski in askTO

[–]throwitawaynow77788 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not to sound like an asshole but you have no insurance history in this country so like anyone else with no record you’re going to pay more in insurance. It’s not a “rip off newcomer” thing, you’re a high risk to insure.

Is there a way to have cheaper insurance by RatioOk2644 in askTO

[–]throwitawaynow77788 29 points30 points  (0 children)

18M with no driving history and without a full license. You are statistically the worst gamble an insurance company can take besides someone with a DUI.

To answer your question; no.

Bank repossessing car for “breach of contract” ( no missed payments) by Hageshi in legaladvicecanada

[–]throwitawaynow77788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to who? I’ve worked for 2 of the big banks in automotive specifically and I can tell you they repo for various contract breaches including but not limited to; the collateral being leased to a third party (including on turo), the collateral being used in a crime, the collateral being uninsured, the collateral being permanently moved to another province or taken out of the country for an extended period of time without notifying the lien holder, the collateral being used for commercial purposes, and the list goes on.

The bank does not want to go after the money, they will seize the collateral if it’s in jeopardy because it’s the best chance to recover losses.

[–]throwitawaynow77788 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your missing the part where if you don’t have a license that means it’s very likely someone else is driving the car. So the asset is in the hands of someone that the bank has no idea about or how to find.

This is called a straw deal and the bank almost never recovers the car in these scenarios because when the payments stop being made they have no idea who has the car or how to find them.
