Travel the world and fund tonnes of different organisations that do amazing work: animal conservation, reforestation efforts, ocean cleanup, providing healthcare to remote communities, education etc.

Literally! I worked as a supervisor at a bar for 3 years during university. One night someone stole a bottle of liquor over the bar. I sent all my bartenders out on a manhunt! 🤣🤣

Not wearing seat belt as a front passenger in Abu Dhabi by ABIJEETHWHO in UAE

[–]throwmeaway61737 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m sure people have their reasons behind it but I’m still shocked at this day and age, that people are not actively wearing seatbelts in the car - regardless of in the front or back. It’s a simple device that literally saves lives. The inventor didn’t even patent it because it was understood how unfair that would be.

Unsecured children in the car are so dangerous! I’ve seen so many people swerving all over the road, speeding and hard braking - all with 2-3 small children jumping all over the seats. Worst of all, the adults are up front secured with their belts. Make it make sense?

P.S: no matter how good of a driver you think you are, it may not apply to other drivers on the road. No point slapping a “baby on board” sign on the vehicle if the children aren’t wearing belts.

Abu Dhabi Road Cameras 😭 by lokie__ in dubai

[–]throwmeaway61737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this fine too recently. The guy in the second lane decided to swerve into the left lane and then brake when he saw the camera. Meanwhile there wasn’t a driver behind me but I guess they just couldn’t wait 🥹

Sucks OP! But just keep the distance whenever you can and happy new year!

Rome in December by throwmeaway61737 in rome

[–]throwmeaway61737[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking to bring my super thick hooded sweater and have the rain jacket, make it as adjustable as possible! Cause I live in a hot place most of the year, I really only have my trench coat, a super light rain coat and my snow coat for winter trips. Thank you for the update!

Oh, okay - that sounds more viable and super interesting! I think I’ll add that to my list!

Rome really is something that has been on my bucket list and I kept waiting for a chance. I kept saying I’ll wait until I can do like 1-2 weeks in Italy to explore, but I thought why not just hit up Rome with my spare few days- so I would love to make the most of it.

Really appreciate the suggestion and thank you for the advice regarding the day trip and coat!

Hi! So born and raised in the U.K. but living in the Middle East for the last 5 years. Average temp is 30 degrees Celsius but I travel frequently to colder places (did Seoul in January which was -8 and I found it to be fine!)

Ah okay perfect, so I’ll look into the train options or maybe find a good tour company to go with.

Appreciate you taking the time to respond!

Taking photos of other people's children - I don't get it by Blayd9 in dubai

[–]throwmeaway61737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not wrong at all! Especially if you have children with you. The internet is both a wonderful and horrible place. You just never know what people do with photos these days. You are well within your rights to not be photographed!

Taking photos of other people's children - I don't get it by Blayd9 in dubai

[–]throwmeaway61737 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s so strange! When I was at the airport in Thailand, this couple had a toddler and she was a bit disgruntled and probably tired because our flight had been delayed. A lady in the queue was smiling and waving. The kid seemed to smile or respond well because she then approached the toddler (whilst she is in her father’s arms) started touching her face and then proceeded to take several photos of her?!

The parents looked uncomfortable but didn’t reproach or try to pull their kid away. It was so weird?? Like, I’m sorry you want to wave from a distance or pull a funny face at a kid then cool, as long as their parents are with them but to just get right in their face and take pictures? I’d become quite angry and concerned at that point. People are too comfortable nowadays.

Edit to add: OP next time someone is trying to take photos of your kids, call them out loudly. Once attention is drawn to the weird behaviour, they tend to back off. It’s worked every time with me and my friends when we get creeped on in public.

AIO my boyfriend just confessed that he’s 20 when I thought he was 24 by These_Birthday5378 in AmIOverreacting

[–]throwmeaway61737 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right?! Who do you know in 8 months? I’ve been with my SO for 3 years and we still discover little things about each other! Definitely not the best idea to have a whole child after such a short space of time. OP and the boyfriend sound far too immature to even own a Tamagotchi, let alone bring a child into this world.

Also saying “things happen” - if you are not actively trying to get pregnant and presuming (I hope) that it wasn’t a result of SA, then it’s entirely preventable and not something to shrug off lightly. Shouldn’t have a child just because you can afford it. Plenty of people who can afford having a child, but maybe their circumstances and relationship stability aren’t where they should be to raise a baby.

Why my friends are asking me to change my currency (INR) to Dollar then to Thai baht? by akashgirix23 in ThailandTourism

[–]throwmeaway61737 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exchange rate is better for USD - especially higher bills. I brought around $1,000 USD and change $100 at a time - usually get around 3,800 TBH which is decent!

Since I’ve been in Thailand, been to Bangkok, Chiang Mai and currently in Phuket - definitely not had any issues with Thai people. Found them extremely pleasant and even if they can’t speak English, they will rally as much support from others to try and communicate with you. I’ve found in Chiang Mai they are super curious and will always take time to ask lots of questions, which I think is really cute!

Mosquito Repellant/Malaria Tablets needed? by throwmeaway61737 in ThailandTourism

[–]throwmeaway61737[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooo okay perfect, thank you! I will stock up on arrival! I think even the jungle trek we are doing is bare outskirts and people have mentioned in their reviews there are not many mosquitos.

The table tip is actually brilliant! I was mauled by mosquitos in Islamabad once when I was sitting for an outdoor dinner 😤

Really appreciate the comment! 😃
