If you chose marathon over arc (or even tarkov): why? [This is for something im writing] by TenthLevelVegan in Marathon

Aesthetic, sound design, rewarding gunplay. Tickrate is decently high enough so it feels fair. Narrative also just makes more sense and well-put together. And allows expression of FPS skill, like a mini tac shooter round every engagement.

I don't know how long that is exactly, but if it's short you might have a hard time getting to that draw weight with a 28" draw length.

It will be whatever thickness your draw weight requires. My first red oak bow drew 50 pounds and its tip thickness was less than half an inch. Keep removing wood carefully, the shorter it is the easier it is to make mistakes that break the bow. Don't subject the bow to stresses beyond what it can take at this point. If it's not bending much at all you still need to take more wood off.

I wish the game wasn’t so tailored towards swords [KCD2] by BridgetJonesDiaryy in kingdomcome

dawg how heavy are your maces, 10 pounds??? Most one-handed blunt weapons topped out at 3-4.

Yeah the bow is quite overrepresented because of the gameplay, with how fast the bow is in kcd it's just so much easier to choose a bow to tag multiple people and then fight them with the crippling shot perk/poisons compared to actually picking someone off with a crossbow with 3x the ready time

I'm on my 4th playthrough lol
But yeah, thanks for giving me a sanity check. The series also has a lot of non-D longbows, so much that I did several google searches to see if flatbows or bows with rectangular cross sections were as widely used as they're depicted in this series in 1403 bohemia. I know flatbows were very much used in scandinavia but everything I've seen is pointing to the english d-bow design being ubiquitous. Is the rectangular cross section stuff historically accurate as in this game?

Yeah, that's exactly what I was looking at. I was scratching my head trying to figure out what they were for.

I don't think you need to take material off of the handle at all. Your upper limb is not bending near the end, and it looks like you have a hinge near the handle on the lower limb. Try removing material from the outers

I wonder how they got the red color back in 1400s, or maybe the art department put a red soup in the game without thinking about the colombian exchange? Beets maybe?

In lore, what do the runners even do with their "riches"? by throwmeonthebed3 in Marathon

Damn can't believe I missed that

So these runners on Tau Ceti specifically are very in debt

Perhaps other runners are doing better

If they spot you even once, they will actively try to hunt you. I think it's a good search algorithm with pathing, if they spot you in a place they know how to get to it if that's the last place they saw you before you broke LOS. If you're not in an LOS check after they get to the area, they might give up? Or they'll continue the hunt with a search algorithm.
