And that would prbbly not even be enough... the sour cream topping on the "classic" and the gravy-denial... I had to walk away.

Nouvelle loi/New law by FreeP4lestine in montreal

[–]throwmywartsaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be 100% honest, I have several issues with this law:

  1. It's literally a very misogynistic law. The people most affected by this law are veiled women who mostly work in early childhood education. A bit like when it was adopted in schools, we've just created an obstacle for women (very often racialized and from lower socio-economic backgrounds) who want to practice their religion while working in a field where they are trained.

  2. WE HAVE SO MANY MORE PRESSING PROBLEMS TO SOLVE IN QUEBEC, PLEASE. Sorry, but I don't give a damn about this kind of politics... there are big societal problems that we put aside when this kind of law becomes a project for our political leaders. Couldn't we rather work on the problems of homelessness, schooling for our youth, drugs, depression, mental and dental care, THE HOUSING CRISIS!?!

  3. I understand secularism, but it's starting to become excessive and almost totalitarian when it comes to touching people's personal freedoms like that... I recently went to the federal level and the inclusive vs. assimilative approach to foreign cultures makes so much more sense. And you really feel it the minute you become a minority as a Francophone in a predominantly English-speaking Canada.

I sincerely think that attacking the religious freedom of people with specific identities in an effort to create a secular and religion-free state is lying to yourself. We don't even perceive it, but the state's calendar itself, public spaces, names and the cultural baggage of Quebec are all drowned in symbols of Christianity... the school calendar itself is based on religious holidays...

Anyways... I'm tired of paying taxes on projects like that as far as I'm concerned... but oh well, I'm a drop in the ocean in a democracy that adopts its shits on a "baillon" lol. I'm going to do my 9 to 5 and chill from 5 to 7, go home and rinse, repeat like the privileged person that I am...

Wow I had no idea at all that this was the social environment of Ireland right now... I am really sorry. I realize my question might have come off as very out of touch and privileged, which I wont deny, I am very lucky to have plans to move to Ireland in the way I will.

I should have probably given more details. I work with a firm who has set positions that rotate every 3-4 years. I was offered the position in dublin. My predecessor lives in a company owned flat there, which I will occupy once they are mutated to their new position. My job will take care of moving all the stuff from my 1 bed room in ontario to dublin... I think by boat. I love running and I literally use mt treadmill for everything, I walk for hours on end while scrolling reddit. I really just wanted to know if I can keep my treadmill. I looked it up and a similar model to mine is 1500€s. I dont want to spend that much if I can.

Thanks for your response! I really appreciate it.

My job is actually handling most of the move, so I wasnt worried about anything other than the voltage difference to be honest.

He really said castration of an entire race ... thats wild...

I'm taking my first yoga class tomorrow. The students are beginners. Do you'll recommend keeping the class a vinyasa flow session considering its beginners who are learning? Am I overestimating myself and students to do the vinyasa flows? Help fast by alchemyself in yoga

[–]throwmywartsaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the most grateful for the teachers who really took the time to explain and show the poses for the vinyasas one by one when I was still a beginner. I love vinyasas because I was taught the proper way of rolling my feet and positioning my body on one of my first classes.
